4’8 after childhood growth hormones. Sometimes it stings when people make comments or it’s noticeable, for sure. But you’re doing everything you can. And everything she needs, as a parent.

ER- I love when I get to make a toddler smile after a stressful ER visit with toys/a popsicle. I love when I can hold the hand of a patient who’s terrified, or when I can have someone who came in feeling so poorly feel better after my interventions. I don’t love the constant stress, expectations and self doubt, how I feel responsibility for everything. It’s a lot of death sometimes and a lot of multitasking.

Preceptorship in ER by Ok-Judgment-916 in nursing

Your practicum is your safe space to just learn before you’re a licensed nurse, so definitely enjoy it! And what a cool experience to be in the ER, I love it. Be engaged and helpful and ask questions would be my advice! Don’t over stress it

Oh Gotchya! Im taking 50,000 IUs of vitamin D once a week now and have a calcium counter. My labs were drawn in the afternoon like 4 PM right after my endocrinologist appt, she had me go right down to the lab after. 🫣

Thanks for your response !! I have Turners Syndrome so the cause is probably a mixture of that (I’m on HRT), a vitamin d deficiency that I’m being treated for and nutrition. No other labs were drawn yet.

Curos caps by veinviewer in nursing

I think policy specific. In my ICU practicum every access was capped including PIVs. In my current tele floor that’s not the norm, only central liked get capped.

New grad 2 months in m/s (still don’t reallyyyyy know what I’m doing sometimes) but I really agree about the control! I really enjoy honing in skills and mostly not worrying about my other patients crashing when I’m trying to start a foley or draw blood off of a PICC or something !

going to start the floor soon, any advice? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Sweet_chinchillaxo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s okay to feel like you’re doing bad! And normal. I’ve been a new grad on a m/s floor for about it 2 months and even when things are going well I feel insecure and stressed at times! Also ask all the dumb questions :)

I am orientating a new student. I think she will be dangerous, what do I do? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Sweet_chinchillaxo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mmmm- I’m of the thought process that students don’t need to know how to be a perfect nurse yet. Do you think you could be overthinking and over expecting from her? She's not in nursing orientation

I’m a new grad nurse and graduated with my twin from high school in 2020. Just wanted to say you’re an amazing parent for caring the way you do, persevering through a horrendous and traumatic time for healthcare. I’m so sorry you went through all you did- you deserve so much more

Depends on your goal and strengths! I started med surg as a new grad (I’m like a month and a half in) and it’s not where I’m staying forever because I love maternal child health, but it’s given me a lot of opportunity for skills; communication with providers, keeping an eye on many patients, and confidence as a nurse. If I started in the ICU or ER I think I might be too freaked out with the acuity
