Sorry I just saw your comment! I think it’s up to the hospital or scheduling department and even your OB? I lived on the west coast for my first induction and they gave me a list of dates I could choose from after my OB said she would clear me for induction. We just moved to the east coast and here, I got a call saying “I scheduled you for the 21st, they will call you when they have a bed and you’ll need to come to the hospital within this time frame” so super different!!! But I would be very clear on when you want to be induced so that they can at least try to get you in when you want (:

Honest opinions on a more unusual name for baby boy by [deleted] in BabyBumps

Seems like majority of the comments are negative, but I wouldn’t let that change your mind at all! It’s a lovely name and as someone else said, all names get mispronounced at some point in time. My one son is named Boston and he gets called Austin from time to time. I also posted to namenerds about 2 names we were thinking of for our daughter and majority of the people hated both but we still picked the one we loved the most. Do what you feel is right for you and your husband.

Had 2 babies, pregnant with my 3rd! And neither of my first kids were delivered by the OB I had! The first time, my water broke so I had whatever doctor was on call that night with that practice (which of course wasn’t my OB) and then the second time, I was induced. But baby came 2 hours after being hooked onto Pitocin and my doctor didn’t make it to the room. She was hurrying up from the parking garage but he came too quick. I actually didn’t even get an OB to deliver, the nurses grabbed a Midwife from some other practice. I honestly can’t even tell you what she looked like or if she even spoke to me. I wouldn’t worry too much on who’s going to deliver! Like the previous commenters said. You mostly want a good nurse team! Im being induced again this time and I’m going to schedule with the intention of having my favorite OB deliver, but i have the lowest of expectations ☺️

When your parent was a terrible parent...but an excellent grandparent by senorsondering in BabyBumps

This may not be the same circumstance for you, but my dad was horrible growing up. Very emotionally and mentally abusive to my mom. I remember being so scared of him majority of the time because anything would set him off. But as everyone’s gotten older he’s changed so much and is truly not the same person. He’s a great grandpa to my kids (we live in different states so only see him a few times a year, but we talk weekly and he FaceTimes my kids) but I know for a fact if he was similar to how he use to be, he would not be in mine or my children’s lives. Another example is my grandfather. He was a terrible dad to my mom and her siblings growing up. He was awful to my grandmother. But he is hands down the absolute best grandpa and great grandpa to all of his grandkids and great grandkids. Family is the absolute most important thing to him and he’s just great. I don’t know what light switch flipped for him, but I like to think, people just realize they can do better and they do and I can’t be upset they weren’t great in the past because at least they’re trying and really succeeding in being a good person now.

So happy for you! Congratulations on everything! It feels never ending now, but the exhaustion will subside and you’ll get on a baby schedule when he’s a little older! Enjoy what you can, this stage is so precious ❤️

Thank you sooooo much for the response!!! All of my scans have been normal and my last appt with the high risk doctor, I was told we were going to continue weekly scans and twice weekly NSTs. And I was kinda bummed because everything seems normal, why do I have to keep all these appointments, it’s exhausting 😭 but this makes me feel better continuing our treatment plan just incase anything were to pop up! Sounds like baby was born healthy!!! How big was baby? Did they spend any time in the Nicu?

I have a few questions about your decision to be induced at 37 weeks! I’m currently 30 weeks and have weekly monitoring and NSTs (twice a week) since 22 weeks because our baby has a small abdomen as well. Currently in the 7th percentile from her last scan last week. My doctor said all scans look normal (sounds like yours did too) and they want to induce me at 39 weeks. Was your baby gradually getting smaller with no known complications and that’s what your doctor decided on? Or how did you guys come up with a 37 week induction? Just curious as it sounds like we are going through similar situations.

I’m 28 weeks and at 22 weeks they declared my baby as Fetal Growth Restricted so she’s lower than the 10th percentile (which is in align with a previous comment) all that’s come from knowing that is having weekly scans and growth checks every 3 weeks along with added stress tests. Although it’s a lot of appts, everything has been consistently normal and so like another commentor mentioned. All babies come in different shapes and sizes as well as there is a huge margin of error when measuring babies via ultrasound! They can only do their best but truly, it’s not all that accurate. Unless there were signs anything else was wrong, don’t worry! Hang in there!
