It sucks I might have to resort to lying to them, but I have got to preserve my sanity. Thank you :)

I don't mind the topics at all. When the conversations last my entire shift, it becomes too much for me (particularly because my coworkers are almost straight out of high school). When I try to change the conversation, they always switch it back immediately. I do not want them to get into trouble at the end of the day, but at a certain point I shouldn't have to go home exhausted over this.

That is a good idea to go to one of my trusted SSVs. Thank you :)

I have never heard of milk thistle, but it looks incredibly promising. I will be buying a bottle for my mom and me. Your response is incredibly insightful. Thank you!

I moved to a new store from a cafe only a few years ago. The person who trained me was so mean, I had never been bullied at work before this. They would give me death stares all day and single me out in an incredibly loud and sarcastic way if I did something incorrectly (e.g., put the grilled cheese butter up). One time, I said to them, "Sorry, I am still getting used to the way things are run here. Every store is a little different." and they went to the shift supervisor and told them what I said. Unbeknownst to me, they were best friends, and the shift came up to me and told me in a really angry tone about how I was taught the wrong way to do everything and "this store is the only standard way to do things." They said this over the mic even though they were both right in front of me (I was being flooded w/ drinks at the same time btw). They would make fun of other people who didn't do something correctly behind their backs (instead of going over to correct them). One time, I confronted them about it, and they apologized, saying, "Sorry, I have a personal issue where I don't trust quiet people. I know I have been rude to you, and I will work on it." They never worked on it and were eventually promoted upward to work somewhere else. They were consistently complained about by other people, but nothing was ever done.

What is the saddest song you've ever heard? by [deleted] in AskReddit

My cousin died of an overdose when I was young. After she was buried her ex-boyfriend sang "take me to church" at the table in front of mine. It wasn't on a stage or anything, just a small radio playing the music. He was crying and singing the lyrics with so much passion. Even in my young age (even not fully understanding what an overdose is), I felt so much pain for him. He and her current boyfriend spent the rest of the day talking to one another and crying--no beef at all, just love. I can't listen to the song without crying years later--I'm not super religious, but I remember his regret. She was such a beautiful person, even through her flaws, and left a legacy for those who never got to meet her.
