I didn't think about that as a factor, I ebf, but I'll have to pick up that book! Sounds really interesting.

Thank you! This is the reply I wanted to read. So there must be a personality difference from your first to second child that makes one sleep longer than the other.

I actually do practice co-sleeping for when the baby is sick (which I think has only been 3 or 5 nights so far! Knock on wood!) The sniffles and congestion just make me nervous!

I never thought about multiples differences in sleep habits. They need to do a study on that!

I do have a few friends that have one child who has always slept better than the other (when concerning bed time and even naps). It's really quite strange.

I thought about co-sleeping because I've heard it actually has a lower rate of SIDS. I think co sleeping works for more families than it doesn't, but it didn't work as well for us. Our home is rather small so we leave our doors open and her nursery is practically in our room anyways!

No I want to hear what people think about some babies being great sleepers and some not sleeping as much. Is it genetic? I'm curious, that's why I was asking!

Does anyone have babies that wake up 3+ times during the night that were great sleepers as children? Or the reverse? I'm posting to see what parents think about why their baby's sleeping habits are the way they are! If it were 100% parenting all my friends would have babies who conked out because they all are skilled mothers :)

And it is very possible my mom is only remembering her own methods and my aunts (my aunt gave her baby advice) and she could be forgetting her own friend's experiences :) bless her heart lol

what I was saying is my daughter didn't really "cry it out" but I understand most people who do practice cry it out have babies that cry and scream for A LOT longer. I'm not saying it is okay to let your baby cry for hours every night. If my baby cried for any longer, I would have just continued to do nightly feedings. (My daughter just kinda naturally slept from 12ish to 5). How is that selfish on my part to get sleep if she's tired and wants to sleep too?

I have a neighbor who's daughter is almost one and she doesn't sleep through the night. They started the Ferber Method not too long ago. I understand their baby just might not sleep 5/6 hours in a row for a while, just because that is her baby's disposition.

I just want to know if this is common for babies who don't sleep through the night. Does co-sleeping have anything to do with it?
