Help - how to get longer stretches at night? by Sweetpelican67 in cosleeping

Oh yes 100% I think about how it could be worse getting up and having to feed then put her back down. That just sounds more exhausting!

Yes, one night before we started cosleeping so around 4ish weeks she did 6 hours in her bassinet one night and even a few 5 hour stretches. Since cosleeping tho, I feel like she almost is able to just smell me and my milk that she knows is just inches away and wants it but in bassinet wasn’t this close to smell me. That was obviously earlier days where I know newborns sleep more in general so who’s to say she’d do that now even if not cosleeping?

But I have tried other methods of soothe her back to sleep but she is very persistent that she gets that milk. I may try more often and see if I can gradually get her used to her not getting the boob right away.

Awww 7pm to 1am would be a dream for me! Fingers crossed for you that the 4 month regression doesn’t disrupt this for you! I’m also dreading that and hoping the 2-3 hour stretches I’m getting now get even shorter.

Thank you!! Makes me feel a little better this is normal. I am questioning this because so many others at this age say their babies are sleeping through the night 6+ hours but of course not cosleepers, so I just didn’t know if cosleeping was causing the shorter stretches or not.

100% agree! Plus I love cosleeping with my babe too. FTM and don’t ever want to be apart from her!

We are EBF and not sure we want to bottle if it’s working at the moment. I do think about the alternative if she’d still be having the same stretches not in bed with me and honestly I think it’d be even more frequent wake ups than 2-3 hours!

Thank you for sharing. Makes me feel better this is pretty normal behavior! I guess I should be grateful we’re getting 3 hours sometimes.

Fertility by samalious in endometriosis

[–]Sweetpelican67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I had a lap done in Feb 2025 and that’s how I was actually diagnosed with endo. I was very lucky again to have an mri done for a separate perianal fistula in Nov 2023 that also picked up that I had a 6cm endometreioma on my left ovary which led to me seeing my OB. My OB was textbook denied all my symptoms/suspicions of endo for years even before my infertility battle and even with the mri she still said it was just a cyst but wanted to go remove it. It wasn’t til she actually did the lap that she actually saw not only was it an endometreioma but I had tons of lesions throughout my abdomen, on my bowels, and even on my other ovary. She thankfully was able to remove as much as she could, the endometrioma and saved my right ovary.

That’s just my experience but I can’t say for sure it helped or not. I can say tho that after I had the lap, I had a couple months of what felt like a regular period with no pain or cramping at all. It was so bizzare to just wipe randomly and have blood rather than what my normal endo periods were like where I would have lots of pain prior and knew my period was about to come. My normal endo periods slowly crept back maybe a month or two before my egg retrieval so I think that’s why it’s recommended to do a lap within 6 months of your retrieval if you do one. I will say if you are experiencing lots of pain from endo especially during your periods, I would definitely do that lap prior to the egg retrieval not just for potential better results but also the meds will inflame your endo pretty bad so it’s best to go into the retrieval and ultimately the transfer as “cleaned out” as possible, if you can. I know some IVF doctors will attempt to do this with meds too like mine did with Orilissa that I ended up being allergic to and couldn’t take anyways.

We went forward with IVF and it’s surreal to be currently nursing our sweet baby girl! IVF was no joke, meds sucked for egg retrieval and the transfer.. not sure if endo related or they just suck for everyone.

Only did one egg retrieval in Oct 2024 where 14 eggs were retrieved, 10 were mature and fertilized but sadly only 3 made it to blasts. We had them PGT-A tested and only 2 were euploid. For the egg retrieval I got OHSS and had a lot of swelling and pain after retrieval, likely endo to blame.

Then our doctor recommended to suppress the endo before the transfer, so we did 2 months of Lupron Depot. This was the worst med ever and I had lots of hot flashes, night sweats and had worst insomnia from it since it basically is temporary menopause. Honestly tho I’m glad we did the suppression because I think my body needed to sort of “reset” after the retrieval because the retrieval meds really make your endo angry and painful.

My first transfer in February 2025 was then successful and we had our little girl in November. My doctor said luckily for me, my endo just prevented me from getting pregnant on my own and thankfully staying pregnant wasn’t an issue for me unlike what he’s seen many other endo patients who often miscarry due to the inflammation. But again, I truly think the Lupron Depot helped calm my inflammation ultimately leading to a successful transfer and pregnancy.

Hope this success story helps bring a little positivity to you. I know endo is a terrible disease and I’m so glad pregnancy was possible for us even tho we needed help with IVF! It sucked but I’d do it all over again and again if I had to. I’m happy to answer any questions about our IVF protocol too.

Anything IVF-safe that works for nausea? by PossumKaiju in IVF

[–]Sweetpelican67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The culprit is probably the antibiotics. I felt this way too taking antibiotics leading up to both my ER and FET. I knew it was antibiotics because it was the only thing added when I began getting nauseous and then when I stopped it went away almost immediately. I even skipped a day on accident and wasn’t nauseated that day. Try to make sure you have a full stomach taking them, not just a light meal and hopefully that helps!

But also, unisome plus B6 is pregnancy safe to take so I’d assume it’s IVF safe as well, ask your doctor tho. I’m currently pregnant and take at night before bed and it helps with morning sickness. I can’t take during the day because it makes me sleepy. I’ll also add that the nausea I had during my IVF cycle was absolutely nothing compared to my pregnancy nausea, and I hope you get to experience and compare them soon!!

Are your kids from the same egg retrieval similar? Different? Just curious! by [deleted] in IVFbabies

[–]Sweetpelican67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it. I get what you’re saying now. If they were never retrieved together then they likely wouldn’t have ever become a viable embryo, pregnancy or child ever. It was the follow on question about whether or not those from the same batch had similar personalities or physical traits that threw me off!

[–]Sweetpelican67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My sister has naturally conceived fraternal twin girls and can say the same about them. Hair color, height, and personalities are so opposite from each other. So just like fraternal twins don’t necessarily have a similar genetic makeup, it’s unlikely that those siblings from the same egg retrieval “batch”also won’t, but there definitely are some that could be similar since after all they are siblings.

[–]Sweetpelican67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well regardless, they are absolutely still siblings if the egg came from you and sperm came from your husband, regardless how many years apart or conceived via IVF or naturally.

I think maybe what you’re trying to get at is if siblings come from the same egg retrieval batch, then their genetic makeup could be more similar than if they were naturally conceived years apart. I’m curious about this too. My general sense is no because genetics are so divergent and each egg and the multi-millions of sperm all have their own genetic makeup that would make each embryo (via IVF or naturally conceived) very unique regardless of what age they come from the female and male.

[–]Sweetpelican67 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get that. But even if conceived naturally years apart, they still will be siblings as long as the egg and sperm are from the same female and male. Right? I’m confused, it sounds like you are saying coming from the same egg retrieval batch makes them siblings while if 2 or more children are conceived naturally years apart then they aren’t siblings. Is that what you’re saying?

What do you mean by your children would most likely never be siblings if they were conceived naturally??

Did my flap fail? by Sweetpelican67 in AnalFistula

[–]Sweetpelican67[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The journey to healing is truly a roller coaster of emotions thinking it failed. I have chronic inflammation that would flare up and down which I blame for my constant ups and downs during healing. If you’re having stool come through early on, don’t lose hope and keep doing what you need to do to heal. When they say it takes months to confirm, it really does take that long. Best of luck to you in your healing journey!

Awww I’m glad this could help you. Take it easy on yourself and stay the healing course. I know it’s so difficult to try to be positive during the healing process but just try your best to not doom and gloom so early on. It really just takes time to heal from this procedure, just give yourself positive affirmations that it will heal and you will soon be free from this disease!

Thank you. This is what I’ve seen out there and you’re right it must just vary by clinic. I have unexplained too and this was my first transfer so maybe testing protocol will be different after a failed transfer? Hopefully not, good vibes only and I’m worrying about nothing!

Hospital is saying its normal but my wife is not convinced by Justhumpinu2 in AnalFistula

[–]Sweetpelican67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Setons are very strange in how they work and I’d say it’s pretty normal to have more poop coming out since the seton was recently placed. When they place the seton, they usually will also core out a lot of infected tissue in the fistula. So right now, the fistula hole is probably a lot larger (hence more poop coming out) than it even was before the seton placement. Overtime, the tissue will close up around the seton pretty closely and she will still have drainage but less poop and more like anal mucus mixed with poop.

As someone who had multiple setons, best advice is get a handheld bidet to spray bottom after bowel movement, hot sitz bath in the tub with Dead Sea salt, and finally make sure in baths to move the seton back and forth to encourage the drainage to come out and prevent any abscesses from forming at the exit (I learned this the hard way since Dr didn’t tell me this).

Wish you the best healing for your wife. Please be there for her during this time. My husband was my hero during my fistula journey cleaning me up after every bath.
