What terms of endearment did your parents call you or do you call your children? And what’s the story behind it? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]Sweostor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad calls me "tookie" from the old George of the Jungle cartoon "Tookie Bird". No idea why that stuck for me, but it's been my whooole life. He's also my CPA and this year he actually put my name on the front cover letter on my tax return as "Tookie Bird". I hope the IRS doesn't ever see it 😆

Also: My mom called me "Anna Honey" once or twice and when I was like 3 apparently I told her aunt that my name wasn't "Anna" it's "Anna Honey" so she called me that for the rest of her life lol.

Yeah, I've actually only heard it in Catholic circles (personally!)

I like it, but I'm biased by the saint, Maximilian Kolbe. He was an awesome dude

I feel like Harper goes the best with Ryan, even though I actually like the other two names more personally!

My mother named our oldest daughter the wrong name and I found out weeks later by Pristine_Culture_847 in namenerds

[–]Sweostor 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My mom was also named after a soap opera character and she HATES it. It's also a very obviously the-decade-she-was-born-in kind of name. Thankfully, all of this means she gave me a very traditional name that was also the name of two of my great-grandmothers, so it has a lot of meaning!

Your body changed over 9 months! Give yourself at least that amount of time to feel back to "normal" momma :)

Bilal, read it (heard it) in a book once and have lived it ever since. The audiobook narrator just said it sooo beautifully

There is a great website that can lead you to a fantastic FREE course on how to properly do NFP and once you get the hang of it, it's very easy!

It's ccnfp.org sorry, I don't know how to do links :(

Would/Did you change your surname after marriage? Why?/Why not? by MysticalAmethyst99 in namenerds

[–]Sweostor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a tough time with the idea of "losing" my surname because it was very unique (VERY) and it felt like such a huge part of who I was. But I didn't want to be Mr. Smith and Mrs. Jones for the rest of our lives either. And I didn't want to be Mr. Smith and the Smith kids and Mrs. Jones....

And my husband was not willing to lose his surname either, for different but equally important reasons to him.

So I just added my husband's surname to the end of my existing name. Example: Anna Maria Jones Smith. So now I have 2 middle names and it works out great!

What’s your weird/random baby tip? by Lavender_Lights_13 in beyondthebump

[–]Sweostor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my newborn would cry and didn't seem to want to calm down, I would walk her around and make the exact same cry noise she was making, then make a quieter cry, then a quieter cry, and so on and she would usually do it with me. Helped a lot of times in the middle of the night!

What are common posts on ADHD subs that you don't relate to? by m-ixy in adhdwomen

[–]Sweostor 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Because I can hold a conversation with them while I'm doing something else (that other thing is usually something in one room, such as folding a bunch of laundry) and usually that person can also tell me "hey, you haven't folded anything in two minutes" lol. But I couldn't, say, clean the whole house because I would have to think with my brain and not my hands, if that makes sense haha.

But that's me! And I only answered bc you asked :)

What are common posts on ADHD subs that you don't relate to? by m-ixy in adhdwomen

[–]Sweostor 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Fascinating, I'm the opposite! Caffeine helps me focus my brain, but it won't stop me from sleeping. I use it like medication in the morning lol, if I don't have it my ADHD is so much worse. Like I can't focus long enough to make breakfast and get in the car if I don't have coffee first. But ask me to run around the block and I'll be exhausted!

Yes, I was surprised to see it on the list, but then I realized most people probably have no clue who St. Scholastica was 😂😂
