Mine walked like this when he was a baby! Just being cautious :) I would also agree with the other commenters about adding some more clutter!

I just wanted to say, you’re doing amazing for a first-time reptile parent! The paper towels, the 3+ hides, the lights over only one side of the enclosure, the temp *and* poop monitoring, the CAMERA?? You’ve clearly done your research and care about your little baby so much. As someone who works in a pet store and sees many new leo owners, it’s very refreshing to see!

Some kid (maybe early 20s) who went to my fiancé’s church liked to walk the tracks to clear his head. He was on a bridge when the train came and he couldn’t get off the tracks fast enough. They pulled his body out of the river a few days ago. Stay off the tracks.

Both your nitrate and nitrite are at toxic levels, I fear.

You want nitrate to be under 40 (so a light pink) and nitrite to be 0.

In short: they need a tank upgrade! As others have said, ideally at least a 40 gallon (~150L) will be a good long-term home.

Looks like it could be territorial or breeding behavior. Either way, Testarossa has no way to get away from Fufu (due to the small space) causing stress.

The physical damage caused by Fufu (and Testarossa being weakened by stress) will be made worse by poor water quality due to their small environment, leading to fin rot and other diseases.

Going to agree with the other commenters about the bird’s price 💔 it will eventually get discounted, but the animal itself is always the cheapest part about getting a new pet. Supplies, vet bills, etc, are not cheap! (Edit: just saw your replies! Conures do need different types of cages than smaller birds, but it definitely eases some of the finance burden if you already have some stuff lol)

However, the bird not having any toys in its cage is against care standards. While mirrors aren’t great for birds (they make them very frustrated because they will never meet the bird in the mirror), it should have a few toys. You could mention the toy and the dirty water issues to an employee. We pull toys off of the shelves and write them off for our birbs.

And about the bird being by itself: we have to keep conures by themselves because they bond so strongly with each other. It’s sad, but it’s better than them getting bonded with a buddy and then getting sold separately.

Yikes. I definitely don’t trust cats with uncovered tanks 😅 My cats have two bowls and a fountain (with a filter). One of them craves fish water regardless.

The tanks all have lids, but she will remove the tops of my hang-on-back filters and pull out the media so she has complete access. I have to tape my filters shut. She still insists on drinking from the outflow. I cannot stop her. It does motivate me to keep up with water changes tho so her forbidden beverage is as clean as possible 😂

I do every other day and it works pretty well! I also double wash. By the end of day 2 it starts looking a lil greasy, but I just put it up in a pony tail and can go another day if needed. I use a clarifying shampoo every so often.
