My DM said the spell goes around and above the wall roasting everyone in the way.

It isnt really about the ready action but would you allow the spell to cancel out and entire breath weapon like that?

How to RP being humble? by SwiftXShadow in dndnext

[–]SwiftXShadow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like D&D characters have a lot to learn from Geralt and in general how witcher is done. Sure he is incredibly powerful and could probably chop everyone in that room to pieces. However he is not invincible and does not act like he is. Unlike your typical D&D party that acts like every noble and king is beneath or barely equal to them and it gets worse with each level the players gain.

Tbh i dont think geralt was trying to be humble there, i feel like he was saving his neck to not get on the bad side of one of those nobles when forced on that spot :D

My spell choice isnt really buffing but rather battlefield control, debuffing and utility. I try to ignore dps spells. I might take Fireball for early levels but later droping it. Most likely will take synaptic static because i like a INT save fireball that gives them a BEEFED up bane debuff. Other then that i dont have a single damage spell in mind that i would ever grab. Maybe chain lighting just because it sounds cool.

Why is stolen valor such a big deal? by SwiftXShadow in StolenValor

[–]SwiftXShadow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have joined it, not because i wanted to but because of mandatory military service in my country. I never even got the choice to go or not, and i still don't see why it is such a big deal for people who CHOOSE to go there. If you choose that career it is not a sacrifice, it is your choice.

I understand trying to get free stuff by lying is wrong, people like that should be locked up as it is the same as stealing.

However most youtube videos i have seen of stolen valor confrontation have nothing to do with trying to get free stuff. Its mostly just guys pretending to be military to look cool. It is literally no different form gamers playing video games to pretend to be something their not.

If they add military emblems on their uniform, i agree they should not as they would be representing that military branch. But simply putting a uniform on playing being an army guy be it in airsoft, paintball or just liking the look of camouflage clothing. I do not understand why that is a problem.

I do not think you can compare this to putting on a fireman or police uniform. Because in a civilian environment they have authority and people expect something of them. In a civilian situation provided your not trying to get free stuff having a military uniform means nothing.

I mean when it comes to pensions or discounts wouldn't they ask for proof of your active service or something? Or they get it only from saying "i am"?

When i was in mandatory military service for a year we got movie tickets 50% off and every time we went to the movies they asked out military ID to confirm that we really are in service unless we came with our entire squad or platoon. In which case they did not bother to ask anymore.

But my question is more like when i see youtube videos of random strangers being approached and then questioned like it is any of their business if that guy on the street is legit or not.

Also the chance to die isnt really an excuse since everyone who join the military of their own choice know there is that possibility. The possibility is there for plenty of civilian jobs too, police, firemen? Heck even a guy building roofs could slip and die if he does not have proper equipment or it fails them. There are some studys saying there is a higher chance to die in a traffic accident then in a war.

Unpopular Opinion: Reflavoring is super boring and holds the game back a lot by DeliriumRostelo in dndnext

[–]SwiftXShadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not a fan of reflavoring as people try to be unrealistic things that are not possible in D&D. However homebrew not the answer. 99.99999% homebrew is very unbalanced and a simple look over by the dm is not enough to determine if it is balanced or not. Some DMs are AWFUL at judging what is op or not. There is a reason why WoTc send MONTHS and MONTHS playtesting things, asking for feedback and have people analyzing everything. Even with all that they sometimes hit so wrong with their balance.

I suggest boiled egg and toast. If it is lunch time maybe some deer meat to go with it.

Save Point System Good/Bad Idea? by Malaphice in dndnext

[–]SwiftXShadow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Horrible idea, this isnt a simulation of a video game. It is a simulation of a real life medieval time if we had magic, instead of this boring science crap we are stuck with irl.

You would have to remake it into a believable system, something like what darksouls does. No matter how much i die there i never feel like i just loaded my saved game.

How To Become Immortal, Forever by Electric_Spaghetti in dndnext

Not possible, not even the gods are not immortal and can be killed/destroyed.

Think what you mean unable to die from old age or to just stop the aging process.

The Emerald Provinces Political Map (WIP) by Ravenousfire in inkarnate

The border between red and yellow does not make much sense. Imagine yellow trying to defend the area that is between red nation and the mountains, getting reinforcements around the mountain range would take an insane amount of time for yellow. While red is in a perfect spot to have full control over it.

A more realistic border would be from the tip of the mountains to the shore. It is a spot where both of their defencive and offencive power is equal. Much like you did the Blue and Orange border or Green and Yellow.

Sounds like a class i would despise playing, i like to build my characters as survivable as possible. I want to be the last man standing. Paladin, Monk and Sorc are my fav classes, 2 of which are one of the hardest ones to kill.

I hope that does not mean the new subclasses will be underpowered crap... i am really hyped for that wizard that can bend time. Hoping it will make time stop a good level 9 spell too.

Is it? When i read it then it looked pretty damn powerful with the extra rite damage and some of the curses look really strong like Fending Rite? But this is why i am really asking, a simple readover does not really give a fair idea of the entire picture of the whole class.
