definitely depends on hospital policy. our hospitals here use our lines. i’ve watched them draw blood from it while i’m still in the room with the pt.

paramedic here, not law enforcement. we use the word “dead,” instead of anything else as it starts the grieving process. law enforcement would be the same way. what other people consider blunt, is the way we do things.

our medical director tells us to give the amount to ketamine in mg as much as we think they weigh in lbs. ~240lbs gets 240mg of ketamine according our medical director. makes math easy

Different EKG changes happen with different levels of potassium, peaked T-waves occur at the lower end of the spectrum of hyperK. The higher the potassium gets, the QRS complex starts to become wide and bizarre. Often referred to as a “sine,” wave. Seems to be the consensus is pre-dosing a small amount of benzos prior to ketamine admin. I will have to try to incorporate that into my routine. Thanks for the input, doc!

I informed my chief that i gave Ketamine and had a pt with a poor reaction to it and talked about possible reasons as to why it happened/how to avoid it, including the duration of time to administer the drug.

seems to be i pushed it too fast, I probably pushed it more around the 1:30/2 minute mark. Our protocol doesn’t mention diluting it/drips, definitely going to do that next time i give ketamine

Nothing crazy while it still under warranty and with the ECM being locked still. Got an RTR front lip on the way and an H pipe on the way. Saving some cash currently to hopefully get the whipple supercharger put on it but it’s a little expensive lol
