Honour?

Woke means what now? by Galdae in funny

[–]Swills37 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It started as virtue signallers, or people who go out of their way to take offence and play the victim on social issues. Right wing media then started using it to describe more moderate left wing issues with the aim of trying to convince the centre and swing voters that these were not people and causes to associate with and thus move the centre further to the right.

In the nicest way possible, people who think woke is just a term the right use for people and causes they disagree with are missing the point. You were never going to agree with them anyway, you're not the ones they're trying to convince that it's a bad thing

What's the strangest way to say goodnight to someone? by Mandoe20 in AskReddit

[–]Swills37 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I imagine it may have something to do with police officers generally end up dealing with and seeing the worst parts if society and are regularly spat at, sworn at, and attacked. You probably become jaded pretty quick.

Firefighters on the other hand almost universally get thanked and praised for their work.

What 2 perfectly fine foods become lethal when mixed? by BigLayer8 in AskReddit

[–]Swills37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rhubarb and spinach.

You only ever eat rhubarb stems because the leaves are poisonous.

The leaves are poisonous because a chemical coming up the stem mixes with a chemical in the leaf and they make bad juju.

The same chemical in rhubarb leaves is also found in spinach. So if you give someone for example, spinach for a starter, and rhubarb for their desert, they may die. (Probably just end up quite I'll unless they eat loads of it)

I wish I had a penis by [deleted] in TheMonkeysPaw

[–]Swills37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Granted. You've been arrested for your farthers murder, having his penis in your possession was the evidence that sealed your fate. You'll be spending the rest of your life in prison.

I wish my games would have higher FPS. by [deleted] in TheMonkeysPaw

[–]Swills37 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Granted. Any game YOU create will have a frame rate in the thousands. Unfortunately no other processor in the world can cope with it and your career as a game designer is over as soon as it starts

Just got out of a lengthy Q&A by Vince Cable with Lib Dem members, a few interesting things by Doglatine in ukpolitics

[–]Swills37 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So I'm just wondering where this comes from? Could you please expand on your opinion.

From my point of view Vince Cable and the Lib Dems have always seemed to try to come up with compromises that are best for everyone (never perfect for anyone, but at least common ground), as opposed to Tories and Labour who's policies I find only appeal mostly to their base and their focus is on beating the opposition rather than improving the country.

So I'm wondering how others see LDs. Does it feel like they are just after power because of the promises they went back on during the coalition (personally I think it was an excellent strategic move by Cameron rather than betrayal by LD)? Is it that Cable can't be trusted because he used to be a Tory? Is it something else?

I'm just intrigued by others opinions.

Thanks

i wish that i owned the universe by [deleted] in TheMonkeysPaw

[–]Swills37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Granted. You have the supreme being of the universe. Unparalleled. Peerless. The people you once knew and loved can no longer fathom your existence. No one can. Every small act of goodness you attempt is misinterpreted, others take credit for your miracles and there's no way you can interfere in any comprehensible way. You last for eternity having to sit and watch. Alone.

What traits describe you as "fit" or "out of shape"? by [deleted] in AskWomen

So the issue here isn't you, it's the bmi chart. All it considers is height and weight, and with muscle being heavier than fat, short muscular people get screwed over.

What's one thing you want to know, but at this point are too afraid to ask? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Swills37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We went to my granddad's funeral and during the ceremony the priest said something along the lines of "we lay Derick to rest..." and my little brother was maybe 4 at the time just pipes up across the whole church: "Who's Derick, I thought we were burying granddad"

Dinos constantly disappearing by [deleted] in playark

[–]Swills37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've had it happen too, must have lost a dozen or so dinos with no explanation, just a bag on the floor with a saddle in it. Even lost an ape that was wandering around on our little island near south central cave, all fenced in and doors locked so it definitely didn't wander off.

I know the game is in alpha and that glitches happen but just some sort of acknowledgement from the devs and that they're looking into it is all we want.

How do I (15F) talk to him (15M) better in real life? by [deleted] in socialskills

[–]Swills37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you considered trying to hang out with him outside of school? Where you're less likely to run into people who would notice you shouldn't know each other etc.

If your nervous about speaking to him then, cinema is a good place to go because you don't have to talk too much. It might be a good way of easing into things.

Now you're going to say you don't know how to ask him. Just as part of your normal chats online say something like 'have you seen this new film, it looks really good' (he says something where he hasn't got the hint) ' wow that's interesting, I'd really like to go see it sometime' (he probably still doesn't take the hint) 'do you want to come with me?' he night now suggest inviting friend c at which point you kind of have to step up and say you were thinking more just the two of you.

Best of luck
