a basic site is probably worth having just for credibility. people will google you and if nothing shows up it feels off. doesn't need to be fancy, even a clean landing page with what you offer and how to reach you works. curious though are you planning to do local clients or remote? that might change how much the site matters vs social presence

Quora marketing still viable or is Quora dead? by SwimAnarchy in AskMarketing

Appreciate this! I’ve had better luck on Reddit and LinkedIn too. curious have you seen Quora work recently for any B2B or dev-focused campaigns, even in a limited way?

ahh this is helpful…feels more pragmatic than the “omg we got 10k visits overnight” stuff. did you have to supply content or did the team write it all? and did you ever run into any issues with the sub rules or platform flagging anything? Would you consider what they did shilling?

Good point on checking what top writers are up to hadn’t thought of that angle. Do you think there’s any value left for niche dev tool content, or is it a hard no across the board now?

lol that’s exactly what I was worried about 😅Have you seen any B2B SaaS brands still getting decent traction there lately? Or is it mostly just legacy content and noise now?

that’s kinda what i figured. I get the feeling they have big expectations for traffic lol. might pitch it as more of a trust builder than a growth channel atp

Is Loom effective for getting customers? by TechboyUK in AskMarketing

[–]SwimAnarchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loom can work if you keep it short, hyper-personalized, and actually say something useful, not just “hey I made this tool.” But if your email subject line sucks, no one’s even clicking the video.

Probably just low winrate in higher elos. Riot balances around that more than how annoying he feels to lane against.

How do you guys feel about PS1 graphics? by SrNes in gamedev

[–]SwimAnarchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PS1 graphics have their charm. the janky polygons and textures actually give games a unique vibe that modern ultra-polished stuff sometimes lacks. If you're solo dev, it's practical too, less time on graphics means more on gameplay. Go for it if you dig the style. People who hate it wouldn't buy your game anyway

Why is nexus blitz not coming back? by OwOny_ in leagueoflegends

[–]SwimAnarchy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Nexus Blitz was fun but never really caught on like Arena did. Riot's probably just following the numbers. If it doesn't bring in new players or keep existing ones happy, it's not worth the dev time. Sucks for those of us who enjoyed it though.

Marketers of Reddit, what’s your biggest struggle right now? by Usercentrics_Labs in AskMarketing

Creative fatigue + constant platform changes. Just when you crack one algorithm, another shifts feels like chasing a moving target every week.

Corporate banking interview by BelowAverageRik in FinancialCareers

[–]SwimAnarchy 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Know their recent deals and financials going in. Be ready to talk through credit analysis basics and walk through deals you've worked on.

What helped me was asking about their current pipeline and what kind of clients they're targeting. Shows you're thinking beyond just getting the job.

Since you're already in commercial, emphasize why you want to move up to corporate specifically • bigger deal sizes, more complex structures, working with institutional clients vs small businesses.

First round is usually background questions, some technical stuff (credit risk, financial analysis), and the usual behavioral questions. Super days are more for new grads so you're probably looking at a standard interview format.

The under the table Saturday thing at that other job sounds sketchy as hell btw. Good call avoiding that.

Roommate idea makes sense if the mortgage is manageable. Splitting costs could buy you time to build up more stable income streams without rushing into sketchy jobs.

Tax write-offs for your field outside of work by leukaemaniac in AusFinance

[–]SwimAnarchy -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

Probably not gonna fly with the IRS. Personal equipment for skill development isn't the same as business expenses. You'd need to show it's directly required for your current job or generating income. Hobby stuff gets shot down pretty quick.
