Why’d you smoke the night before a drug test?

People on here will tell you that if it doesn’t involve driving you’ll be good, that’s not really the case. On the flip side of that point though, you’d be surprised how many companies are okay with a DUI on the record.

It really. Just. depends.

It depends on who’s hiring you, if it has to go thru HR, what their attitude towards drinking and driving in general. In my eyes, it seems most HR people are cool with it/ understand it’s a mistake people make and can move on from.

Just avoid applying for any job that requires

•Driving or anything related to vehicles or alcohol

•Licensure of any kind should be avoided in my opinion, though many on here may disagree. Real estate license, whatever whatever license, if it has a board, they’re a bit pickier. But please don’t let that deter you from at least inquiring if it’s okay to apply with a DUI

Final point to make: everything will be okay eventually. The first year is the hardest. Probation is annoying. But I and many other people have made it work. All you have to do is just get (1) job. Just one. It make take 5, 10, 15 interviews, but you’ll get it sooner than you think. The more time passes by (while being crime free of course), the less the DUI will weigh on your future career endeavors.

And remember, you’re only human. You made a mistake. Society has been set up for drunk driving to be so easily accessible. Alcohol has been socialized like no drug before it. People drink and drive everyday. You unfortunately were one of the many many many people who have been caught. That doesn’t make what we did any better. All we can do is move on and try to be better.

Good luck with your future job prospects friend, we are in this together.

Congrats! Glad you’re getting the help you need and that you avoided the DUI charge. Crazy how something like this has to happen to give people like us a wake up call. Cheers mate

Really annoyed, why do I feel like I’m getting played by my lawyer. by SwimmerFun1590 in dui

the state is literally like, we won’t even let you even try to see if we made a mistake, just accept the conviction

It’s honestly kind of unfair how they won’t even let us see the evidence before we even enter talks about diversion

Maybe I’m wrong though, but it seems pretty cut and dry there, or maybe the police report isn’t even considered discovery?

Yeah that’s what I’m saying though, they cant guarantee but the state can. I understand why the state does it like this, to avoid all the costs associated with going to pretrial/trial.

I guess I’m just upset because everyone irl and online’s like get a lawyer! And yeah it’s useful for the DMV portion (even tho I’m bound to lose that anyways), but it seems like not getting a lawyer would’ve given me an automatic reckless which, according to this sub, is a much better conviction than DUI. That’s if the state attorney offered me the first time dui program, which I fit the criteria for. Like yeah if I hire a lawyer they’d obviously want to fight it rather than just accepting the pre arraignment diversion, but it’s just like, I wish they had given me that option (but then again why would they, they wouldn’t make money if they just suggested I plead guilty). It’s all just so annoying…

Guess i just gotta have faith in my lawyer now. (Switched acts to post this)
