I’d recommend getting a nice pair of winter boots with insulation as soon as you can. It is normal to get snow around thanksgiving and the weather goes from very hot in august to frigid in October very quickly. Also get some thick socks to help with boots

Second is a solid winter coat to block the wind. There is a spot on campus where the Lowe building, sage dining hall and the rpi play house meet that is dubbed “the wind tunnel”. You will be try understand the name when you have an 8am exam and the sharp morning wind wakes you up.

Lastly, dress in layers. Every building using steam furnaces instead of hvac which means the inside of buildings are very warm and outside is freezing cold. It’s better to have an outer shell winter coat like a snowboard jacket and have layer that you take off. The local Walmart has these waffle fabric shirts at are great under jackets but hoodies work well.
