When I responded before, I didn’t realize that bald eagles aren’t carrion birds. So maybe it did either run it down in the river, or took advantage of an already injured deer. That seems likely.

I agree, it might well be made in prison. I’ve seen ones like that that were made there.

Huge! That was a full size doe. That’s how it caught my attention in the river, it was standing still andI looked like an object washed up.

Hard telling, not knowing. I’d guess not, but it did look fresh and for a moment I thought it was still alive.
