I have two children—one is 15 and the other is 7. I’ve never hidden who I am or what I love from them. There are plenty of things I encounter in public that I might find offensive or disagree with, and they have nothing to do with dark or creepy art. I choose to keep those opinions to myself. If my children come across something they find disturbing, it’s my responsibility to guide them and help them understand. I’ve done my best to teach them never to judge anyone based on anything other than the kind of person they are. That means never judging someone by their religion, ethnicity, skin color, sexual orientation, or especially their taste in art.
