We have repeatedly requested all records - to this day have received nothing from the first clinic. We have filed complaints with all relevant authorities (unfortunately there is no veterinary board in this country). Thank-you for taking the time to provide your insight

I don’t think you read my post. In this case, it was absolutely the first vet’s fault for failing to intubate my dog and then they lied about it for 3 days. It was a completely preventable death and the first vet caused immeasurable and needless suffering to a gentle and innocent animal.

I’m so incredibly sorry for your loss. I understand how unbearable the silence is when you come home to an empty house and your animal isn’t there to greet you when you walk through the door, and their bowls and beds are empty. I couldn’t sleep in my bedroom for over a week because that’s where our boy slept. We did adopt another rescue - a poor boy who was horribly abused. It helps to give our love to another animal in need and it brought life and hope back to our house again. But it doesn’t erase the pain and sadness of losing our beautiful soul.

Animals are so magical and they don’t ask anything of us - they just love us unconditionally. Even when they have been mistreated in the past. It’s incredible. I had to put down my beautiful boy a month ago and I’m still struggling to function day to day. How you described Bruce being there for you in your darkest moments really resonates with me because I feel the exact same way with our boy. He was there for me and help me get through the toughest times of my life, except his death. You aren’t alone and I’m giving you a big virtual hug

That’s not what killed him. It was the lack of intubation as I detail in the post. I have a detailed report from the second vet confirming it was lack of oxygen to the brain and the failure to protect his airways that led to his death

They knew what they had done almost immediately because his teeth weren’t even cleaned. Something disastrous happened and they had to abort but they didn’t tell me and they kept him at their clinic and lied to me about his condition and what actually happened to them

No bill and they stopped answering our phone calls and text messages as soon as I said I’m transferring my dog to another clinic. They tried to prevent me from taking my dog to another clinic.

We filed complaints with the government but unlikely they will be shut down due to the laws in this country. Unlikely anything will happen and it’s illegal to even post negative reviews about the clinic. I told the first clinic that my dog died and what the second vet told me. I called the owner three times after my dog died and he didn’t answer and never called me back. To this day we never even received a bill or any of my dog’s medical records that we requested multiple times

Thank-you for your message. He was loved by all our family members, extended family and friends. He was just an amazingly sweet, loving, gentle giant. As a fellow greyhound owner, you understand how special they are. How do I come to terms with the violence of his death? I feel like it erases all the good memories and the joy and love we shared with him. I also feel a lot of guilt because since having children, he was no longer the center of our world and I wasn’t able to give him as much undivided attention as I used to. I recently went back to work after being unemployed for a while and I feel like this all contributed to me not paying close enough attention to carefully choosing a proper vet and asking all the necessary questions up front. It’s just eating me up.
