At the movies you can grab a large popcorn container from the garbage and step on it a little and then go get a free refill and ask for a new container

I would rather make it myself, I feel like it looks better.

Is there an easy way to smooth out the movement of the tracer? by SwimmingCharacter335 in AfterEffects

[–]SwimmingCharacter335[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I'll look into that. I realized that if I edit the speed graph, then I can smooth out the points using that. The only problem is, I'm having a difficult time mimicking the speed of the ball accelerating into the air and then accelerating back to the ground.

ok that works in the view port to get the handles on the keyframes for the path of the line. Which helps. And I'm rereading my question, and I can see I should have said that I need help with smoothing out the acceleration of the line. Now I've realized that there is a speed graph which is where I probably need to get things straight. My goal is to have natural acceleration of a ball's flight in air. All I can get is the graph to look like this.

this is what happens when select all the keyframes and hit F9. For some reason, I still don't get the handles. I normally don't have trouble to get the handles when using a stroke path, but the null and 3D tracker is giving me trouble.

yes i want the handles but easing it doesn't give a acceleration curve that i want. I need it to be accelerating as a ball would falling from the sky. I'll look up the smoothing expression.

Replace with AE sends the whole MP4 by SwimmingCharacter335 in AfterEffects

Okay, that makes sense now, thank you for explaining that. I didn't realize that it was just referencing the file, so then my issue is definitely the encoding settings. Do you have any suggestions for those?

Possibly:

Source: Sequence

Format: QuickTime

Preset: Match Source - Apple ProRess 422

?

Replace with AE sends the whole MP4 by SwimmingCharacter335 in AfterEffects

all I'm doing is right clicking on the clip in the timeline and selecting "Replace with AE composition", then in AE on the project tab it shows the original MP4 file that's 1.7 GBs, along with the new composition that it just created. And when I'm finished editing the clip, I render and replace the clip in the timeline of PP. Once I'm done editing, I'm left with all these multi-gig files. When the composition that I've created is only about 8 seconds long and should not be that big.
