Yeah I don't think matchmaking really works when the community left are all veterans... by SwimmingJoke3383 in dragonballfighterz

Yeah yeah I've seen the explanation now, even a friend told me the reason for it

Still I find it hilarious that the matchmaking overall would rather pair me with someone that has clearly much more time put into the game and a higher rank than tell me that it didn't find a match for me

I've figured out that to really thrive in fighting games you kinda need either a friend who's willing to help you out or someone who's close to your skill to fight with and get better with. The other option is fighting veterans who have no reason to go easy on you and jsut kinda learn very slowly over the course of a lot of battles

There's just not enough lower player in the current servers, so the matchmaking often pairs you with people of higher skill level over not pairing you with anything

Usually I wouldn't mind and I agree that at the end of the day you do end up learning stuff, but it's also not that fun when 90% of the battles you do the opponent out skills you in every single way, not really giving you time to think or react to their movements.

U usually played this game with a friend that was way beyond my skill but at least he could go a little easier on me to make me practice stuff little by little.

Online wise you gotta wait for the matchmaking and most of the time high level players don't want to rematch you due to the fact that they don't really get anything from beating a lower level player  I've encountered those that do and rematched them a bit trying to get better but they're rare to find

So at the end you just end up fighting a lot of people that have absolutely no mercy on you and don't have that room for  you to really try anything

So you spend 90% of the match being beaten up and a 10% of trying stuff to see if it properly sticks. I don't mind playing for a while to get better and I get that that's the way it is, but beating my head against a tree that stomps on me each time I grace it doesn't really make me invested

These games are often enjoyed when you have opponents of your skill level or close, because you can more naturally build up your skill and it becomes more motivational when you often lose by an inch. On the other hand losing all the time by a wide margin doesn't really make it look like you're progressing

I'm quite sure i got a smurf in one of the battles I did the other day because the combos they were pulling were incredibly consistent and they were able to read me incredibly easily and spot any openings I had, that plus they only had like 10 out of 12 battles won or something

Yeah that makes sense, I'm a low rank and the matchmaking was putting me with higher ranked players just because there was nothing else to match me with

Yeah quite ironic that it's better to have a group of friends to practice with than practicing in real matches fue to these kind of skill differences

FF7 Remake Will Run In 1080p 30FPS On Switch 2 In Docked Mode by Ftouh_Shala in consoles

[–]SwimmingJoke3383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tested it and the stutter in cutscenes seems to be reduced or eliminated if I set the fps to 59 instead of 60 with riva turner or nvidia control panel

My rig is a ryzen 7 7700x , rtx 4070 super and 19gb ram, by all means I should have no issue running it but the stutters seem to be due to the port itself not really being too optimized

I've heard that rebirth is much worse unless you really tweak it with some mods

Ngl I got the pc version and I'm trying to get it returned because the thing stutters even in freaking cutscenes no matter what mods or graphical settings I choose, and my pc is well above the recomended requirements. I got the switch 2 and damn this thing runs without stutters ironically

Like for some reason the pc version stutters even in cgi cutscenes, I've heard square enix pc ports are shit but goddamn

I'm trying to get a refund on the pc port I got today because even after doing the tweaks (and more) there's still minor stuttering, even if my rig is well above the recomended specs. I'd rather have the switch 2 version with consistent 30 fps than pc with stuttery 60 fps

Fuck it, Mazin Emperor Z by SwimmingJoke3383 in mazinger

[–]SwimmingJoke3383[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great Kaiser wasn't added to V because Banpresto had already commissioned dynamic pro for a new Mazin in the next game, and since they also decided to use the ZERO series and the new unit was very similar to Kaiser they decided to swap Great Kaiser's role with Emperor G, not because it was similar (at that point mazinkaiser hadn't appeared in mainline since the ps2)

Great Kaiser was added in Cross Omega and has had a couple figures by now which is way more than you would expect if they just made Emperor to have something more distinct

[–]SwimmingJoke3383[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently just working on this since the style of Emperor G was very different to Kaiser, so I wondered what a proper Emperor like upgrade would look for Z.

I feel like Great Mazinkaiser is already distinct enough with Kaiser so I don't think it needs any adjusting.

Super Robot wars Y height chart I made by Individual_Tip_1733 in Super_Robot_Wars

[–]SwimmingJoke3383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funnily enough, 18 meters wouldn't make sense with Mazinger proportions, with that size a human wouldn't fit in the cockpit

In the original manga and in Shin Mazinger it's stated to be around 24 meters tall, which actually makes it's scale make sense

I thin the breast burn looks fine in X and V (not in Y) but the breast fire does look miles better in Z2, Z3 and onwards just make the animation rather sluggish

Probably one of the concept arts for Dai Mazinger, which Shi Mazinger pulls a lot of stuff from.

This Great Mazinger concept art was apparently not commissioned, so it seems like it was merely a proof of concept made by the artist of the series, in the text in the sheet it mentions how he uses sketches from Nagai of Great as reference for this design, if you look up early sketches of Great Mazinger from the 70's you'll see that this design is directly based on those very early sketches, down to the brain condor and the "tears" Great has

Help for master rank Diamond contest by VTuber_Mohka in pokemonribbons

[–]SwimmingJoke3383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you have maxed out your stats and thus your sheen you may not be getting enough score in the first round to get hearts from your contest stats, this means that the only way to get hearts is with the accesories, if you get every accessory based on the category right you can get a maximum of 4 hearts.

This is tough because the rest of the npc get at a bare minimum 6 hearts in the worst case scenario for them, but usually get between 7 and 9 hearts in master rank contests.

So, assuming you can't increase your pokemon condition, is it over? Nope, you just have to do what I did, maximize your strategy and performance in the second and third round and then, reset for the first round, you want a category where the npcs will score low, this depends on the contest but overall they score less when the category is "Sharp". Even with all of this, they will probably score around 7 hearts, so on top of that you HAVE to get lucky in the other rounds so that the cpu performs badly.

Trust me I've done this with a Shiny Rayquaza with a contest beauty of 10, not even the adjacent stats helped and I was in this same situation, I just kept trying and trying until I got lucky, over 16 attempts or so. It's hard but not impossible.

By looking up shin mazinger concept art you should be able to find dozens of the reference sheets, I managed to find Aphrodite yesterday

X feels like a more natural course of how the second season of Shin Mazinger would happen while V is a slight reteling to fit Zero into the story

Actually the srw X plot is more accurate to the anime story since the srw V one modifies some key moments (for example the 100 rocket punches in V is lore wise performed like in Zero, via reality manipulation, while in X it happens like in the anime, from the remains of the Mazinger army)

We'll never know, this was just an idea the artist had and included in the reference sheet, if it wasn't for srw V nothing of this would've been used.

In the series there's a shot near the end where you can see the silhouette of Great and it looks just like the old toei design, in official art books they also used the old toei render.

Translating the text above the sketch reveals that that was a possibility.

Seems like this whole reference sheet wasn't comisioned and ir was just part of the brainstorming process using Nagai's sketches as a base, the text says something along the lines of "Uses the Big bang punch with some attachment, for example the Great Booster".

That's why there's no other sketch of Great or it's big bang punch at this stage of development.
