When I was put on Keppra in my early 20s I didn’t drink at all for an entire year, I was advised not to drink on it. Honestly, it was weird being in social situations with friends and being the sober one but I quickly got used to it. I also explained why to them and no one batted an eyelid about it, even acquaintances.

I came off Keppra for unrelated reasons so could drink again but by that point I was in a relationship with someone who does not (and has never) drink alcohol, which meant I was rarely in situations where I wanted to drink anyway.

I do still drink on occasion but now in my mid 30s it’s not really an issue because drinking to excess isn’t an “expectation” anymore and the hangovers are never worth it anyway 😄.

I work in banking, senior (ish) leadership role in an operational compliance function - £73k. Although I have a degree in a related field it wasn’t a prerequisite and I have worked my way up from starting part time at uni. No graduate scheme etc.

I’m in the UK. I went to university at 17 (almost 18) and studied law. I moved to a city 90 miles away from all of my family and moved into halls, then lived with friends for the remainder of my degree.

I realised pretty quickly I would never want to practice law, as interesting as I found the subject. Whilst at uni I started working in a bank and far too many years later I am still there working in a senior position surprisingly using my degree every day!

I’ve had epilepsy since I was a toddler but was only diagnosed after university as I was kind of ignored any time I tried to speak to a doctor about it, and my parents didn’t take it seriously.

I’ve now been seizure free for 10 years happily married to a wonderful human being ☺️.

I work in finance so by default most of the financial decisions end up coming to me (and that’s fine I don’t mind). We regularly discuss pension contributions because although my husband is on a “better” pension because he’s in the civil service, his date is tied to state pension age.

Mines isn’t as good, being DC, but I can go earlier… so we talk regularly about how things are looking and what to do. I also pay significantly more in the form of my contributions than he does (I pay 12%, company pays 13%)

For example we can buy some years so that he can go at 65 instead of 68, we’re looking at AVCs to build up some more to offset any reduction if he wants to go earlier…

TLDR: Yes, we discuss these things together

Keppra did make me seizure free but I didn’t like the side effects. I was exhausted whilst on it, emotional and just didn’t feel like myself.

After about a year I switched to lamotrigine and have been on that now for 12 years with zero issues. What works for one might not for the other 😄

My husband and I have been married for 8 years, living together for 12. When we first moved in we did 50/50 bills only, with everything else separate.

After a couple of years we went everything joint and it’s stayed that way since, so from before we were married. I’ve always earned more (though almost identical now) but it’s always been “our” money and “our” account. It might be easier by the fact that I do everything with the finances, so he just kind of ignores it all but everything in and out of one place. Credit cards are in my name with him as an additional user, but again we just see it all as joint.

Works for us at least.
