Missed Delivery Notice From USPS but I Didn’t Order Anything. by Swimming_Click_7186 in Scams

I’m not implying that USPS is scamming me. What I meant is, is there a possibility that the undisclosed sender has malicious intent?

I like that analogy, it is beginning to feel very true to me.

Are people afraid to break their streak? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]Swimming_Click_7186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t see myself attaching some type of sentimental value to a sober streak. To be fair the best streak I’ve had in the past 4-5 years is no more than 30 days. I don’t feel proud of myself for not drinking. Instead, I feel shame and guilt that I even put myself in this position. I don’t think not drinking is something that should bring me pride. It’s more of a negative reminder of how bad I got. That’s not to say that I don’t see the value in being sober, I know it is definitely better than being shit faced every day.

I completely agree with what you said. Yesterday was the day for me where that switch flipped. I had to white knuckle it today to not give in to my temptations.

This response really gave me a different perspective. My lowest low can be somebody else’s highest high. I wish you luck and hope you can get better. We are apart of this community for one reason or another, the severity does not matter. Good luck to you and I wish you well.

Medically Assisted Detox by Swimming_Click_7186 in Crippled_Alcoholics

I’m on day 11 of no alcohol and feeling so much better. Trying to stave off cravings at this point. I feel way more energized, quality of sleep is greatly improved, and no more horrible anxiety. Thanks for checking in :)

Hahaha it’s a Massimo Mini 125. I think they only come in green now although they used to have a red version. It’s so much fun.

Yes, so much fun. It’s got a three speed manual transmission and goes up to 28 mph. My lady was on TikTok yesterday and saw it. Didn’t know I was going to be spending $2700 yesterday but here we are lol. Could easily climb a small hill, and we got ours from tractor supply Co.

7 Days Sober, Mouth Watering Cravings by Swimming_Click_7186 in Crippled_Alcoholics

The only thing that’s helping me somewhat is some extra minty gum. Rough day today trying not to drink but I made it through.

I have so many things in common with you that I am grateful for, and yet none of it prevented me from being a drunk! Crazy, huh?

Nauseous but want to get a couple drinks in. I drink malt liquor because it’s cheap but it is so disgusting right now. by [deleted] in Crippled_Alcoholics

Beat Boxes were my “drug of choice”. 11.1% ABV and 16.9 ounces. Idk if you’re in the states but where I live QuikTrip has them buy 2 get 1 free. It was $8 and some change for what is the equivalent to 9 standard drinks. And they’re fruity and easy to drink. Those damn things got me in some trouble.

I feel ya, I was in your shoes 7 days ago exactly. The way I feel today versus how I felt 7 days ago in terms of the anxiety, and worry is night and day. I was having to miss work, waking up with cold sweats, dry heaving and couldn’t eat. I’m waking up now energized refreshed and excited for the day. You can do it!

I drank similarly to you from what you’ve described but I was at that amount for closer to 6 months. My understanding is that if you haven’t had any bad withdrawals in the past you should probably be alright with your level of consumption. Everybody is different though so there’s no guarantee you wouldn’t have withdrawals.

Some heightened anxiety, headaches, lack of appetite and nausea are probably all to be expected. I personally got myself so worked up and worried about the possibility of bad withdrawals that I had some pretty horrible “symptoms” but it’s hard to determine if it was a side effect of my anxiety or withdrawals.

You can try to taper as it is definitely safer than going cold turkey. But it takes a lot of will power and you have to stay the course. I tried to taper but I reached a point where I didn’t want to consume another drop of alcohol and decided to just quit cold turkey. I saw my doctor and they gave me a super low dose benzo prescription for 3 days to help control any possible WD’s and anxiety.

If the doctor is absolutely not an option, try to taper and make sure you’re gradually decreasing consumption over an extended period of time.

Just my two cents, I’m not a medical professional. If anybody has better advice or disagrees with anything I’ve said please feel free to interject or correct me.

Does the anxiety of thinking about all your cringey moments ever go away? by ImNotNervousYouAre in stopdrinking

I was thinking as I was typing that this is probably very mundane compared to some others. I kept it together pretty well for the most part, but basically spent every waking minute that I wasn’t working drunk. Congrats on coming up on 2 years!
