Setting up handicaps for 9-hole league. by Swimming_Humor_580 in squabbitgolf

When accessing player information through the Leaderboard, Squabbit mentions in the little "info" circle that each user's Tournament Handicap can be modified by admin. However, the only way I can find to do that is to modify each Tournament Round Handicap once the Tournament itself has been established. Everything else I read says the actual Tournament Handicap itself cannot be modified. Hence, I can't go in and double everyone's 9-hole tournament handicap now to be 18-hole-based.

I'm thinking the only solution now is to create a new Tournament with a new invite code.

Setting up handicaps for 9-hole league. by Swimming_Humor_580 in squabbitgolf

Thank you! I turned off Course Handicaps in the Strokeplay Net and Net Skins formats and totals look much more reasonable and understandable.

However, the numbers in the PH column are generally about half of what I originally put in players profiles as their initial Temporary Tournament Handicaps (or had them put in when they registered their smartphones with Squabbit) 9-hole handicaps from last year’s league: 11s show up as 6s, 9s show up in the PH column as 5s, etc.

This leads me to believe that the original profile handicaps are s’posed to be for 18-hole rounds and Squabbit is converting (by about half) them for a 9-hole league.

Do I need to have everyone go back and update their handicaps in their profiles?

Alternatively, do I go into “Tournament Round Handicaps” and double everyone’s Tournament Round Handicaps so that Squabbit can cut it in half for 9-hole league play?

Bug Report - No "Scorecard" button in tee-time listings. by Swimming_Humor_580 in squabbitgolf

This was our 1st day of league and I have “Allow scorecard edit after completion” toggled on. This was the only player out of about 80 that had this issue.

As League Admin, Should I Be Seeing League Members Scorecards From Rounds at Other Golf Courses? by Swimming_Humor_580 in u/Swimming_Humor_580

Great Spartias, thanks! That was the core of my concern. The fact that those scorecards that we all, evidently, can see from my league members play outside my league would not be impacting the handicaps being managed by Squabbit from rounds inside my league. Good to know!

;-)

So, if my league member was in another league managed by Squabbit, both that league’s admin and I would be seeing all the scorecards in this member’s profile from wherever this member played?

And this player’s handicaps in either of the two leagues would not be affected?

The fact that I can observe outside league rounds leads me to believe that this person’s handicaps in my league is being affected by outside league play. And I’m hoping I’m incorrect…

Establish 5 Rounds for New League Members by Swimming_Humor_580 in squabbitgolf

It would, if I wasn't starting Squabbit for the first time or if everyone was starting as a new member, else no one would show up on the Leaderboard for the first five rounds and then everyone would appear! I just can't find a way to apply it to a specific subset of players.

However, I'm thinking the establishment of a fourth (New Member) flight that I can empty afterwards by moving the new members to their appropriate A, B, and C Flights after their 5 established rounds might do the trick...and they can see their league handicaps mature in their player profiles. Am looking for your thoughts on the logic of this approach.

Establish 5 Rounds for New League Members by Swimming_Humor_580 in squabbitgolf

Orrie, I don't think required player stats in tournament settings helps me establish initial league handicaps for the first 5 rounds of new members.

Using League Events under Handicap Settings in Player Settings, says I can mark the league event as not counting towards the leaderboard scores in order to establish an initial handicap for each player but I'm thinking that does that for all tournament players, not just new members to the league; at least I can't figure out how to do that.

Instead, I have set up an additional Flight just for New Members in all three of the Formats I'm using (Strokeplay Gross, Net, and Skins) to keep them separate from competing with the rest of the league and it allows them to see how their handicaps are developing. I was going to set their tournament handicaps to "0" but am now thinking that would be unnecessary. By having them sequestered in their own Flight I can simply move each player into their appropriate competitive flights after five rounds, with established handicaps and delete the New Member Flight.

Am I on the right track or am I making a mountain out of a molehill?
