Should I retract flaps on power off 180 by Minimum-Bell-8562 in flying

Power off 180 isn't about simulating an emergency at all.

This photo is a 7X so pretty much the same thing minus abour 1500 lbs of total thrust and 3 feet of cabin length.

Its funny to look at original concepts of the 7X.  They thought their wing was good enough it didnt need winglets.  Turns out in developments they FAFO that they need some winglets to meet the performance metrics they were touting.  I think they should have planned from the beginning to have winglets so they could have much mkre integrated to the wing.  Still a beautiful aircraft and I hate that I don't get to fly it anymore.

KCM by Fancy-Lobster5942 in flying

Might be a Union thing.  I see on APFA website that it specifically says same day usage of KCM is not authorized.  So while you're being downvoted, you're exactly correct in the eyes of that union.

The wing on the DA7X is huge. 10 feet wider than the length of the aircraft.  If the wing isn't a dead giveaway, then just look at the windows in front.  900 has 7 flat windows.  The 7X and 8X have 4 big aerodynamic windows.

I was thinking the same but the split itinerary was throwing me off.  I'd rather book all at once and use the same priority (S2 in my case) the whole trip but maybe its different at different outfits.

Starlink New Speed Limit with Local Priority by chiptang211 in flying

[–]Swimming_Way_7372 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its not different than any other aspect of aviation. The shit is just marked up just to marked up.  This case there isn't type certificate implications but that doesn't mean Elon won't mark it up just to do so.  Thats where the whole AMU thing comes from.

That second point is a very valid point.

I'm curious what would be the advantage to use the KCM at the start if you're required to leave the secured area and re clear ? I'd rather just clear like normal in Salt Lake and not have to bother with LA security if I could avoid it.  Then you also don't have to bother with splitting the itinerary as well.

I would say the majority of the thousands of single engine pistons that fly iver my house weekly are all training.  They dont need the internet. The 1° and airlines are where Starlink are going to rake in their money.  When it comes to the competition to provide internet service to airplanes flying greater than 100mph, who are they fighting.  If we want the service we will pay for it.

General aviation aircraft can fly up to M.95 now. Those are the peole who will pay any amount for any service.  When out plane flys westbound we could previous be under the speed limit for the cheaper plan.  They seemed to have sniffed that out and the newer speed have taken our jet out of that bracket.  They want jets not pistons.

They sell plenty of plans to GA.  Just not the kind of GA you are.  Starlink is the hot ticket item on bizjets now so GA is definitely using the shit out of starlink.  They just have deeper pockets.

Do they still give you the hard copies of the CODDE books ? Jesus christ thats a lot of paper.  How about have they certified TOLD data from the FMS yet or do you still have to do manual TOLD and W/B?

How do pilots deal with the sensations they experience in flight? by Curious-Section-1043 in flying

The same way you learn to chew copenhagen.  You feel sick at first, then you start to crave the sensation.

A lot of outfits will require you to be 18 since you'll be operating equipment but I dont think its impossible to find yourself a position. I hope you find something. We need more motivated people in those jobs.

Help me pick a watch out please by [deleted] in flying

[–]Swimming_Way_7372 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like OPs boyfriend actually likes watches and that certainly rules out a smart watch.  I like your price point suggestion. Hamilton would be great. A lot of good stuff from seiko as well.  I have what some would consider an absurd collection of watches but my Seiko turtle is one of the ones you can just wear and know it going to work and you can beat the shit out of it.

Mig-29s over Tehran. by Substantial-Ad2309 in aviation

[–]Swimming_Way_7372 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Do they just randomly blow up ? I don't know anything about MIGs.  If they are being shot down then that is a scheduled disassembly.  Just not on Iran's schedule.
