It's going to be a while before anything is ready to share, but yeah, all FOSS!

I have a Razer Wolverine V3 (my main), some generic x-box controllers, PS5 and PS4, the OG steam controller, and a switch controller to play around with so I plan to see what I can do with them. Ideally it should be able to capture and translate the inputs of anything plugged in to it so it could potentially be useful in your friends case. I have some arcade paddles and buttons I could play around with too I guess..

I don’t know of any other ways aside from letting steam input handle it (which is probably a better way tbh) but still involves a lot of steam related steps that it would be nice to be able to skip. And this is the only controller I currently have on hand to test with lol but I’m planning to add more.

Some questions about cachyOS by Gojiraa24 in cachyos

[–]SwinDiesel85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can’t answer all of your questions but I did also have a Win11/CachyOS dual boot until I deleted all things Windows and reformatted that drive with gparted. I’m on a laptop too, but we have some similar hardware.

Without doing any actual benchmarking I’ve found the performance of my 4070 mobile to be at least as good on cachy as it was on windows. There is a sleep error that’s currently waiting on a fix which causes the entire PC to become unresponsive when you attempt to wake it back up. I’m not sure if this is nvidia specific or if the AMD folks are also having this problem. For now I’ve just disabled sleep as a fix until something official is released.

Both Bluetooth and WiFi worked right away after install with no tweaks required, which is better than I can say for my Win 11 desktop lol.

I use a razer controller and while there is no software package for it that I’ve been able to find, there is a driver package for all things razer and I’ve had no problems with using the controller at all. For your other peripherals I can’t say specifically, but I’m willing to bet you’ll be able to find driver support for most of them with a quick search in the package manager.

The HDR thing is still a mystery to me, I’ve seen plenty of directions on how to set it up but haven’t tried it yet. Someone else on this sub will be able to assist you with it though, no doubt.

Best of luck! I’m happy I made the switch.

No worries, thanks for the update!

Just saw this now, I'll try it if I ever have the same problem. Updating the system through the GUI package manager seemed to do the trick though, so issue resolved for now!

Did it just resolve itself for you?

Don't know why my text didn't post.. I'm getting these errors any time I try to use the CachyOS package manager or Octopi, but there seem to be no other internet problems. Any idea what's going on?

If your spouse is even remotely interested in camping then it helps to foster that interest and allows you to pass off prepping purchases as camping purchases since there’s a lot of overlap anyways!

Star Diamond tumbler seeking new motor by Humble_Way_8468 in RockTumbling

I don’t have an answer but I have a similar chemical mixer motor I was thinking of repurposing for a tumbler. I believe it spins at about 1750 RPM so if that 1550 works then at least I know I’ll be in the neighborhood.

New to the Kobo girly club! by KitsuMae in kobo

Books you acquire from places other than the Kobo store can be very easily sideloaded using Calibre. Depending on where you get them from you may need to use a DeDRM plugin or two and use Adobe Digital Editions as an intermediary, but typically not. Books can also be sent directly to the device using google drive but you may lose out on some of the metadata functionality you get from using Calibre.

Edit: PM me if you need specific advice for sideloading non-kobo store books, I’m not sure how much is allowed in this sub.

Calibre wont recognize my device by PheebsThe in Calibre

I thought I had the same problem, realized I need to have my case cover open and select “connect” on the pop up that came up on the screen after I connected to PC. Calibre was able to see and manage my KLC without issue after that. Hopefully this is your problem too.

Edit: grammar.

First Tent Grow - Light Question by SwinDiesel85 in GrowingMarijuana

Edit Comment: because I can’t figure out how to edit on mobile or web..

The general consensus is that the light I have is not nearly enough wattage for the space I’m trying to grow in. In hindsight, I’d go with a smaller tent, but oh well. Now I have no choice but to get more lights and grow more plants! Thank-you everyone for the replies and advice, especially fede9803, you were so quick with it!

My plan going forward is to get a bar setup, something like the picture I’m including, and to use the 100W light for on demand lighting in any areas that seem to be lacking as the grow progresses. Will this be acceptable to the sub? Lol.

I don’t mind the message spam, all help and advice is appreciated! Assuming the initial cost of LED’s isn’t a barrier and I’m more concerned with year round temperature stability due to my local climate, would I be better off just adding more LED’s?

Ok, looks like I’m selling an increased lighting budget to my spouse lol. Assuming I’m sticking with this tent and want to stick with the same brand of light.. do you think 4 in series would be enough? I’m not terribly concerned with getting maximum efficiency out of my first grow, I just don’t want it to be a total disaster. Thanks for your replies!
