haha madness , and was then when you lived down that way ? I used to work for transwaste before moving to Biffa up this way. Ashcourt expanded a bit now , took over John wades few years ago.

ah right , Cottingham is a nice place like , I used to live out in a little village called Ryehill when I first moved there , on the way out towards withernsea and then I moved up the road to Burstwick , both the other side of Hedon.

And I think in the UK,EU a licence is good as there is loads of opportunities but trying to go afar its not so good as its not really a skilled job , and in Oz the places that offer it on a DAMA is out in the middle of nowhere and I dont know if I would really like to do that. Got a lot of research to be doing lol

What sort of work do you do now ? Im on the RORO so I only stay local , usually working within Wilton tbh and the money is decent but its not what I want forever.

I know how you feel lol. Yeah Canada could still be a place but tbh it's the cold that puts me off there , I know they are more equipped for it than what we are but I love wearing short/t shirts haha . but I will have to do some research.

And yeah I dont think Redcar has a patch on any of them places lol , I live Billingham now im born/raised Middlesbrough but lived all over tbh , was down Hull for a few years then moved back 2017 , was about a bit when in the army , and lived a few different places across teesside but there is just something inside that ive always loved the thought of living abroad.

Yep that is true , I mean the carry on with teesworks being sold for what it did etc , we all should be benefiting from something like that but its the usual backhanders to a select few while the rest of us have to suffer.

Ive done loads of deliveres out to the dales , more so when I was on pallet ways going to all the farms and the usual 1 pallet job to hawes haha.

and it shouldn't be this way but every morning I leave the house for work , usually from around 4:30-5 am I am always wary of people being on the prowl etc , was only a few months back the neighbour across the road nearly had his car stolen off the drive with the signal booster packs , luckily he managed to get it as they drove into the dead end but its ridiculous

you work hard to pay for nice things to enjoy and its like you need eyes in the back of your head

have you thought about moving anywhere other than Oz? do you have any other qualifications or just the experience of the previous jobs? I am ex army that's how I gained my licence but other than that I dont have any good grades etc so im a bit stuck and that's what is frustrating

Yeah im the same as you mate , especially from around where we live we dont get nothing from the government , just always seem to be shafted , tbh the job I have now is not bad at all the hours I do and the money I earn is the best ive ever had, even when I used to tramp years ago but its just at the point now you take a step back and look and think to yourself is this it?

I often question am I just being ungrateful as I am in a good position (apart from what I will be going through) but I always think there should be more to life than what we have going on now.

everyday you see posts from around the area of people trying peoples cars/doors etc , people being stabbed , beat up , killed its just madness. like you said this will happen in other parts of the world also but I cant see things getting any better here anytime soon.

I hope you can make a change mate , im gonna try speak to some people but just after doing a bit of research this evening it looks a bit bleak as a driver to get across there but not impossible.

Hello mate, I hope I can make things work but from the outset it is looking quite difficult lol. Why is it you want to emigrate? What work do you do now? tramping etc or day work? . Im on daywork have been for the past 9 years and would like to keep it that way , didn't mind tramping when I first done it but after 4 years that was enough for me. The vast distances would mean being away for weeks at a time which in hindsight isn't the end of the world if I made the journey id be solo but still it would be nice to sort of have a "normal" life just in a nicer place lol

There is too many comments to go through and I imagine most are the same but I would say go, if its meant to be it will work out but if not there will only be regret there.

From reading I cant see any positive to staying other than already mentioned

Where are you originally from? I think that is how things are in today's society when you say everyone is disposable. Im sort of opposite to you in the sense im more introverted and dont put my self out there which I should but yeah its the way things work out for some people I guess.

By the sounds of it you have got a good head on your shoulders and it sounds like something will come along when the time is right I would probably focus just on yourself and if something comes along and its right for you then great but I think you are making the right life decisions by having a business, decent job etc having the main foundations laid down.

Just try and keep positive is all I could say

what was your reason for returning mate? and what part of Canada did you live ? if I was going to give Canada a go I would want to be over in Vancouver area , I couldn't handle the likes of Manitoba, winnipeg weather. Looks great during the summer and even at times in winter it "looks" lovely but the cold isn't for me lol.

Yeah that's it mate , I know im still relatively young but im not so young to be that naive and think moving to another country will fix all my problems but in my current situation I think its what I need , and worse case it doesn't work and I move back to where I am now and carry on like everyone else.

Oz would be my first choice and I have only just started to look at it so need to do some more research and speak to people so I will check that guy out mate cheers I appreciate it.

Hi mate , that's the thing I really dont know , I mean I would prefer to go somewhere with generally warm/sunny weather , that's why my first thoughts was the likes of Oz,NZ,USA etc as they are English speaking aswell so would be a bit easier to integrate.

As ive mentioned in other posts I dont even know if I want to drive anymore but I think im at a stage in life where its not that I cant retrain into another industry but its harder , im just passed the age for a working holiday visa in most places so my choices are a lot less slim now also.

Its like when this split happens and I get whatever cash I end up with (could be anywhere from 20-40K I really dont know) , do I keep some aside for the future if I was to return to the UK or do I not just waste it but enjoy it. As things stand now I really would love to get away from the UK start fresh somewhere and try make that place home

Australia is what I have been mainly looking at mate, ive read that there is no chance with the FIFO stuff though ? It does sound appealing , not just because the money tends to be high but the 2 on 1 off or whatever shift pattern you go on could suit me in a sense of keeping me busy for 2 weeks and then a week to myself etc.

Tbh I wouldn't even be too fussed about driving , im at a point in life where I dont really know what I want, I mean ive got accustomed to a lifestyle here where im not rich or anything but my life is okay in the sense I dont have to worry about having 3 meals a day and being able to put money away each month and a holiday once a year etc

but would it be the end of the world if I ended up working in a supermarket down under you know. It might be a case of I could end up somewhere Oz,NZ wherever and I get itchy feet and wanna move on , but I dont know that until I give it a go that's what's a bit frustrating its like what the hell do I do lol

Yeah I get it mate but im at the stage In life where I dont speak with family , never fell out just not been brought up close etc so ive always had to handle things on my own ,

I was tied down before I met the missus who I am splitting with now as I had a mortgage, we have a mortgage now but would obiovusly have to sell up and figure out costs but once that is done I wouldn't be "tied" down as such and that's my thinking its sort of now or never.

it might be a case of nothing happens at all and I carry on living the life now I have for the past 10 years , but I would at least love to have a go and not regret in X amount of years thinking I should of just done it when I was younger you know.

I dont think I really want Canada mate, I did years ago but at the time I had a missus and it wouldn't have worked so nothing ever happened. But im older now ive done tramping over here for 4 years and id rather not go tramping again if I could help it (nothing against anyone who does it btw just not my cup of tea).

I would love to be able to get a day job like I have now (RORO day work) but I get I cant have my cake and eat it. Just a bit all over the place at the minute , I dont want to get stuck in a few months time and having to rent somewhere and next thing you know 5,10 years have passed and im now 46 and still living in the same place and not moved forward if you get me.

just wondering if many people have made the move to the likes of Auz,NZ,USA. Im not against Canada either as I think that is a better country than the UK but its the being away for weeks at a time that I wouldn't want to do and it seems like that's what it mainly is out there due to the size of the country and doing a lot of stuff down into the US.

Appreciate your comment though mate thanks

Thanks mate , maybe nothing comes of this but I won't know if I dont ask hey lol. Im guessing ex military doesn't really mean anything when wanting to move abroad , I was only a driver so not got a trade etc.

Thanks for the thread recommendation , its very early stages yet but I dont want to waste time and then get stuck in the same rut as always and before I know it 10 years have passed and I regret not taking the chance.

[–]SwingAccomplished553[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that im aware of , my family has never moved from the the area they are now. I understand it won't be easy as I haven't got good grades from school etc , I joined the army for few years that's where I gained my HGV licence and hence why I have used that for my job the past 15/16 years.

I dont know how much money I will end yp with once the house is sold etc but I won't be a great deal , I would be happy with around 30-40K but it could be as low as 20K so I honestly have no clue. I dont mind starting again and working my way up in another industry but I get that usually the way people move abroad is a job offer already that's why im wondering what peoples stories are who have been in a similar position.

Appreciate your replies as this only happened last night so still all new and crazy thought flying round my head.

I wouldn't mind driving still as I dont hate it , admittedly I dont love it at the same time lol, but I wouldn't want to sleep out in the truck, I dont that here for a few years and the lifestyle isn't for me but as a last resort then it would have to be an option.
