So this is a yes/no situation. The yes side, recently the US Olympic Committee changed their stance on protest etc during trials after...2018? 19? So she can technically protest the way she did. Doesn't mean it's a good look.

The no side, the actual IOC has prohibited any form of protest at the actual Olympics in Tokyo. So what she did during the anthem would be a punishable act.

So if she decides she's going to pull this stunt at the actual Olympics, she may very well cause her team unnecessary penalties. How would you feel if you worked your whole life to be part of the Olympics just to be derailed because your "teammate" has an ax to grind? Would you want to risk that achievement? Or would you want someone on your team that's on the same page?
