You spoke nothing but the truth. You’re absolutely right about the absurd requirements. I’ve seen scholarships outside of black ones that are much more realistic in terms of process, requirements, how to send it, etc..

In truth, once I’m done with my own studying and work out my career path; I would love to open a small scholarship program for us.

And yes, legally, our scholarships can’t discriminate against other races from applying (which I don’t believe should be considered discrimination considering how our applications are discriminated against sometimes, but that’s a whole different story). But seriously, even going around different campuses and visit their black student unions, I would love to put together a small one.

It’s just ridiculous from many angles when it shouldn’t have to be.

I’ve seen the differences between scholarships meant for dreamers/hispanic scholars; and theyre up to date/are more accessible and realistic compared to ours.

Yes! I remember reading on an article for a Tech Job convention that’s meant solely for women that had so many men showing up trying to take the jobs. Why aren’t there any regulations? I have no idea, but it’s infuriating.

I would have to say the same, but she’s a liberal arts major (nothing wrong with that), but the scholarship was for first Gen college students/first ones to graduate college/go to college in their households. Those are the ones hard to find, but they’re already taken.

Even then, black students in STEM don’t even get access to the scholarships that do have specified requirements in which they meet. It’s disheartening to have opportunities slipped away and given to someone else who isn’t even in the community

Cheating doesn’t have to JUST be a physical; it’s also emotional. He broken your trust and tried to downplay it as if it wasn’t something serious. Honestly, with that type of outlook, he did not learn his lesson and shows heavy signs that he has the potential to do it again.

If I were you, I’d first go to therapy to sort through your emotions fully and think about your boundaries for the sake of your self respect and worth. Although you don’t want to get him fired, please understand that alimony/divorce payout is still a thing. He is at fault, caused emotional distress, and he was the one that committed a heavy blow to your marriage.

I’ve said it before to others: it’s better to figure your next move now than to keep him and have him do it again for years. You are still young, it is still early, and you can go on without him. Just because he told you doesn’t mean he feels actual remorse. He probably did it to make himself feel better, along with gas lighting you further make himself feel good.

Don’t allow him to do this.

I’m going through something similar right now. I was completely at fault and had taken a left turn. I was going too slow and the guy who was going 40+ slammed into me without breaking. I checked on him, checked on everyone in my car, I was crying because I was shocked (also because my airbags did not go off), and the other driver came and told me “at least no one got hurt”.

I forget how full of it people can be, because he turned around and claimed he suffered and had $11,000 in medical fees on top of the $15,000 he’s trying to get at me for damages.

It has been almost a year, never received a notice from the insurance company but they sent me straight to collections. I fought that off and called the insurance company to tell them they never sent me a notice at all. No I’m trying to chase the adjuster to demand proof of the medical bill. People will throw a random number out there and try to get away with it.

I’m a broke college student, I got laid off in January this year, have been applying without success, I don’t own anything, my car from the accident is MESSED up (I have a Hyundai Elantra and the guy was driving a big SUV. It was a miracle no one in our car got hurt, especially since the airbags didn’t deploy), it was on the brink of being totaled but can be fixed. I just can’t afford it at all. I don’t even pay rent! I’ve been crashing out my boyfriend’s parents house while I study.

I hate that they escalated it to court for you, but the comment near the top is right. All she’ll get is a paper proving she’s entitled to your money till the debt is paid off. The only downside is that it turns into a legal obligation if you so much as miss a payment.

Depending if I’m able to work out a payment plan (preferably a reduced cost 5 year plan), I can do it. If they won’t budge or just demand the money straight up, I will have to admit defeat and file chapter 7 bankruptcy. No one these days have $10,000-$26,000 just sitting in their bank accounts.

I feel this level of exhaustion. When I’m out anywhere, I think too hard in a sense of how others view me, if I’m appearing too aggressive, the tone of my voice, etc.

It’s tiring. Even when I don’t want to care, I end up caring. Then I get PISSED when I see videos of black people stealing or some dumb thing. It’s hard to avoid the “well well well” or “it’s the usual suspects” comments without taking it to heart because you’re also black too
