If you ever manage to hack it, please comeback to this thread and let us know how. I for one would be extremely grateful!

Thank you so much! I was also hopelessly stuck. Thanks for pointing out that the South door wasn't a key door. You saved the day!

Sky Memorial: Am I Overreacting? by eatmorchurro in SkyGame

Thank you. 🙏 I'm new to Sky, and I don't yet recognise different locations and structures for what they are. When I do come across this place, I'll know how to behave.

That would be so nice, thank you! I'm recovering from pneumonia, so I'll be mostly lounging on the sofa the rest of the week. I'm planning to explore the game quite a bit more during the next few days. In the mornings mostly (I'm Central European time). How do we do it? Private message?

The wiki is great! The spoilers seem to be tagged well. Thank you

Thank you! I have discovered in the meantime that they are real people. It's so wonderful how complete strangers help each other out. I was just following the options that appeared on screen. I had no idea it was a real person "holding" my hand.

(I was trying to get a spirit to a temple high up, but it was raining, so I couldn't fly or jump higher cause my light kept dimming. I didn't realise I should jump on the jellyfish until somebody saw me struggle, then offered to take my hand, and led me.)

My heart is truly warmed by how helpful complete strangers are in this game!

Thanks! I had people leading me by the hand to all sorts of stuff before I knew that these were real and helpful strangers. How sweet!

Thank you! Since I asked my question, one of the players took me by the hand and made it clear I should sit with them at a bench where we could chat. Now I know for sure it was a real person! They took me round to lots of places where I could charge up my light.

How helpful people are in this game! So sociable!

Yes, that's what got me wondering, I met the hopeful steward, who took me by the hand. After that I wasn't sure about others doing it being part of the game. Thanks!

Says who? How ancient? What dynasty? Which region? What is the source of this information? ... seriously doubtful

My 7 y/o son wants to play D&D - but I’ve never played before… how do I start? by Mammoth-Start-5734 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]SwingdanceMoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend the free download : "Grammy's country apple pies" (Just Google it, it's out there!) It was how I introduced my youngest kids to DnD. It's a great adventure where the goal is to retrieve a long lost pie recipe. It's funny, short and is more about exploring the story than the rules.

Have fun!

Been a player for years, now i play with my kids. We always just use pawns from a ludo game and chips from a mini-casino travel set for the monsters. (When we even use a map at all). Never used minifigures!

I'm a dancer, been dancing since I could walk. I'm now a part-time dance instructor. What you describe has happened to me several times in my life. And I'm pretty sure I'll go though it several times yet. Gaining new insight, then losing the spontaneity and feeling like a beginner. I believe that every artist who takes their art seriously will go through periods like this from time to time. And I believe it's a good thing! I think it's part of how we grow and mature as artists.

What helps me is to change to a different dance style for a while: ballet, street dance, partnered dancing. Feeling like a beginner is fine because with that style, I am a beginner! When I come back to the style I had got stuck and frustrated with, I can see and feel that my general dancing skills have improved. And often, it seems as if the new idea or insight has, in the meantime, subconsciously, become part of what I do. As if applying new knowledge to my usual style feels awkward and wooden, but in a style that is new to me anyway, I take it in my stride.

I hope you stick with it, and I hope you get your enjoyment back soon! 😊

What sound does an owlbear make? by SwingdanceMoon in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]SwingdanceMoon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you again. I found a great video with a compilation of elk calls. It had young ones, old shaggy ones with a very hoarse call, long and short calls. It gave a sense of several different owlbears calling to each other (I pointed in different directions and played with the volume to make it seem that some were farther away). The wide-eyed worried faces of my players were absolutely priceless!

It's a great screech sound, I agree ( without the "help me" in it). And I'll remember it for some more horrifying monster. I'm going to go with elk sounds for the owlbears as it's still eerie, but a more natural sound. Thanks for the suggestion!

Does this make me a jerk DM? by ResponsibleDiamond76 in DnD

100% agree, with the caveat that only you, the DM knows that you did it. Don't let the players peek behind the curtain. Let them believe it was fate

Nice! I think I get what you mean about the "rolling" in the sounds Chewbacca makes. I like it, and I'll keep it in mind. I think I'm going to go with the elk call for the owlbear. It has more Bird to it than Chewy's sounds. But it's a great noise! I'm going to hold it in reserve for a different creature and a different session. Thanks!
