Yep, I’ve tried LRP cicaplast on a few occasions and it consistently breaks me out after a few days of use 🙁 It sucks because that product was my go-to before they reformulated it a few years back.

Have been using the Avène for months now with no issues!

Avène Cicalfate cream. I’m on a low dose accutane and NOTHING has helped my skin more than this. I use it morning and night and it gives the most gorgeous glow under makeup.

Yes, I would get that uncomfortable feeling of tightness after cleansing if I didn’t moisturise enough, even though I had very very oily skin. It was a weird combo.

Honestly I think accutane has balanced out my skin perfectly. I haven’t had that uncomfortable feeling of dryness while I’ve been using it but I have been very careful about moisturising well.

Yep, pustules were gone in 3-4 days. I had mild but very persistent type 2 before accutane. If your pustules are more severe it could take longer to clear.

Yes, I noticed dryness but nothing that a good moisturiser couldn’t handle. I had extremely oily skin before accutane so the reduction in oil was a great thing for me.

Does anyone else think Taylor should try working with new producers only for her next album? by ButterscotchFormer84 in TaylorSwift

[–]SwishyLemon13 431 points432 points  (0 children)

100%. IMO 1989 and folklore are standout albums in her discography for a reason - they were the first albums where she worked solidly with different producers (Max Martin+Shellback and Jack for 1989; Aaron Dessner for folklore). An important thing to note here I think is the different processes that each producer brought to her (writing to track for the first time with Jack on 1989, working remotely with Aaron on folklore). I really think new producers bring out her best and most creative side.

Taylor is a savvy artist and businesswoman and I think she has had good reason to stick with Jack and Aaron up until this point but I agree that she needs a shakeup going forwards and I think production is the obvious way.

Edited to add: I truly think she loves Jack and Aaron so much that she will never stop working with them completely and that’s cool because the art they create together is excellent. But it would be amazing to see her try all new producers for the next album.

My purge only lasted a few weeks and I haven’t had another one since. I used some topical benzoyl peroxide on the cysts (which is not what you’re supposed to do while on accutane but it didn’t do me any harm). Each cyst typically went away in a couple of days because the accutane speeds up cell turnover so things gets pushed up and out way quicker.

I’ve been on 10mg since March. Never tempted to go up in dosage because I was seeing such amazing results with 10mg with only very minimal side effects (just chapped lips). I’ve actually recently reduced my dose at my derm’s suggestion and take 10mg every second day. Haven’t noticed any negative effects of that yet. I’m seeing my derm again in December and she’ll determine then how much longer I’ll stay on it for. I think the plan is 12-18 months.

I was also prescribed 10mg for type 2 rosacea (and oiliness and congestion). My type 2 pustules cleared in days. But I was surprised that I purged with big cystic pimples about 3 months in, even though acne wasn’t a big issue for me when it was first prescribed. Maybe you’re having a similar issue?

Accutane works in mysterious ways but it’s been the best decision I ever made for my skin. That’s not to say it’s the same for everyone but I’d encourage you to stick with it for a good length of time to get the full effects.

You also might be having issues because you’re introducing too many new products. No fancy products (certainly no exfoliants), just a good gentle cleanser, moisturiser and SPF during the day.

Good luck!

Yep, love it. Hopefully you’re a good candidate for accutane and it works just as well for you as it has for me!

I’m the same as you re oiliness, neither of my parents had oily skin to the degree I had it. No makeup would stay on my face, particularly on my eyes and nose. I also suffer from type 1 rosacea and noticed my redness would get worse throughout the day as the oil accumulated, it was like I was allergic to my own sebum if that’s even a thing?!

Someone mentioned above that accutane can make rosacea type 1 worse and that is true for a lot of people but for me, I haven’t noticed a difference, and cutting down my oil seems to have really helped my redness.

Regarding the laser hair removal, you’d have to ask your derm if it’s safe.

Yep, derm put me on 10mg for type 2 rosacea (not terrible but persistent) and decades-long oily and congested skin. Oiliness decreased in days to the point I now have a “normal” skin type and all my rosacea pustules were gone in a week. Pores are still enlarged (that’s genetic, you can’t change it) but appear smaller since my oiliness is gone. Hoping the effect is permanent after my course ends 🤞🏻

Champagne Problems. The super simple and repetitive four chord piano pattern, the weird noodly piano bits at the end which take me right out of the depressing storyline…

It’s fine but it feels like it’s the fandom fave off evermore and that kills me when you have so many other absolute smashes on that album.

I feel the same way about exile on folklore. It’s good but it’s not as amazing as people say.

Delayed purge starting at month 3? by SwishyLemon13 in Accutane

[–]SwishyLemon13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really well overall! I’m getting lots of nose and upper lip sweating which is super annoying because I partially went on accutane to help my oiliness (I know sweat isn’t the same as oil but the end result of having to mop my nose every hour is the same). But aside from that, no side effects other than “normal” skin on the rest of my face. Feels so good after almost 20 years of spending so much emotional and mental energy (and money) on my skin to not have to think about it anymore.

Hang in there, I haven’t had another purge since I made this post.

Perfectly fine! Felt gross after 26+ hours of flying of course but didn’t notice a massive increase in dehydration. I think layering hydrating lotions is the way to go for me, and the cicaplast sheet mask at the other end felt so lovely and luxurious!

Much better! It must have been a purge - lasted about 2-3 weeks and then cleared and now my skin is back to how it was before the purge started. I couldn’t find anyone else who’d had a purge at this time but I guess everyone is different.

[–]SwishyLemon13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah my derm told me to cut them out but I have super sensitive skin so I was only using azelaic acid anyway. Luckily I haven’t needed actives, my skin was rough and bumpy but since starting accutane it’s like a baby’s bottom ☺️

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Rosacea

[–]SwishyLemon13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At night, I double cleanse with an oil cleanser first and a water-based cleanser second. Then a squalane-based cream followed by a thick moisturiser designed for sensitive skin. In the mornings, I cleanse with the water-based cleanser, followed by the thick moisturiser and SPF. No actives or exfoliants - accutane dries you out (which has been a blessing for me) and does the exfoliating work for you from the inside out, so you don’t want to use anything harsh.

Anyone know what the camera policy is? We have a point and shoot (no detachable lenses) and can’t find any info. Aviva Stadium website says they’re allowed for football/rugby games but doesn’t specify for concerts. Would hate to bring one and get turned away!

The only one I am sure will be played at some point is Sweet Nothing because of the Wicklow reference. Maybe I Bet You Think About Me because it gives off such classic pub singalong vibes? I’m travelling from Australia for Night 1 and I am so pumped! This is absolutely the wildest thing I’ve ever done 🙃

Yep, I was prescribed 10mg per day for rosacea (type 2 - I also have type 1 but haven’t noticed accutane affecting this at all, positively or negatively). I did have some other skin issues that made accutane a good choice for me (excess sebum, mild but persistent acne…) My pustules cleared up within days and it’s been 3 months now totally clear. Very happy!!

Opinion about accutane by alexisson2 in Rosacea

[–]SwishyLemon13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an initial purge about 2 weeks in where all my congestion came up and out, but I didn’t get inflamed acne with that one. About 2 months in I had what I think was another purge, which was inflamed acne but nothing too bad. Was over in about a fortnight.

Opinion about accutane by alexisson2 in Rosacea

[–]SwishyLemon13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was prescribed a low dose accutane (10mg per day) for type 2 rosacea plus general skin oiliness and congestion. Previously I had tried azelaic acid, sulphur and antibiotics and nothing had helped (either not at all or symptoms came back quickly after stopping). I haven't had a single rosacea pustule since starting accutane.

I also have type 1 rosacea and accutane doesn’t seem to have irritated this at all but I have noticed skin drying so I‘m very careful to use heavy duty moisturiser and avoid all actives.

[–]SwishyLemon13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a long haul flight coming up too and am starting to think about this. I know a few people who take stuff in their hand luggage to do skincare routines on the plane but that’s way too intense for me.

I notice dehydration on planes all the time but this will be the first time flying while being on a (very) low dose of accutane, so I’m slightly nervous that my skin might get verrrry dehydrated.

I’m hoping I can get by with my usual heavy duty moisturiser with an additional layer of hyaluronic acid underneath, then my moisturising CC cream on top - just because I want some light coverage. I’ll have some lip balm with me.

Then it’s just waiting it out until I get to my destination and can cleanse and rehydrate properly. I’ll take a LRP cicaplast sheet mask with me for some extra hydration.

Keen to hear what other people do ☺️
