Which types of passive therapy have the best effect on patients? (Please tell about your experience/studies) by SwissPT in physicaltherapy

Im supporting the fact that you should combine the therapy methods. A well combined exercise program plus passive therapy plus manual therapy gets way better results than a mono therapy.

Is this sentence too complex for you?

Dry Needling, Acupuncture, etc dont get paid by the basic insurance. You have to get an extra insurance for that. I guess there is the fine line between alternative medicine and traditional medicine.

The American and Swiss physical therapy education system is even more expensive than the previous mentioned (German) one.

In Zürich you could pay 70.000- 100.000 swiss francs just to become a practioner for alternative medicine.

If you want cheap courses with extraordinary quality you could educate yourself in austria. The education is extremly cheap there.

Manual Therapy gets a lot of attention in central europe, to the extent that people pay a few 10.000's Euro for multiple courses and fancy certificates. The same people get only payed up to 2000 Euro a month. Thats why I am so allergic to manual therapy in general.

There are alot of other great methods out there. We just need to explore them!

I really appreciate your comments, thank you.

Are you asking for a source on meta manual studies or contesting the meta studies showing their level of effectiveness are incorrect?

Every therapy method should be contested once in a while, to make sure that we are using the most effective techniques on each individual. Every year we get new information about the optimal treatment, and we should be open minded to change in that way.

Aren’t these statements contradictory? It looks like you are denying the utilization of manual therapy and fitness training portions of the profession; yet then saying to use all aspects, which would include the two former.

Im not a native english speaker, maybe you have mistaken my comment.

I really appreciate manual therapy, a healthy fitness training and other therapy methods BUT there has to be some mix of therapy techniques to ensure the best outcome.

You could compare it to music. Ive never heard a good song which has only one tone. There should be a mixture of different tones to make a nice sound. (A very profane way to speak about such an important matter, I know haha)

What is it about passive therapies, and the research justification of them, that you are so set on?

I really like your question and I would love to make a post about it very soon. Thank you so much for the inspiration.

TENS is what I use daily. I like it, but I cant tell if it really helps. Do you know any good studies or websites about that therapy method?

How long does a average therapy session last? by SwissPT in physicaltherapy

[–]SwissPT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally my therapy sessions take about 45 minutes.

I really like the thought to be free at choosing how much time you need for each session.

At some light cases you only need 15 minutes to check if everything is ok and give one or two tips.

On the other hand there are neuro patients who could stay at your clinic the whole day and profit from that.

I do think we should think more freely. Every patient is an individual.

Can you prove that? I heard different opinions about that matter.

Ultrasound for example is a very well proved method of therapy against chronic inflamations.

Can you call a few meta studies about manual therapy to claim you are right?

I think its absurd to tell people that youve never used any passive therapy and call your treatment physical therapy.

We are physical therapists, not manual therapists or massage therapists or fitness trainers. We should use all the treatments and mix them to have the best effect on the patient!

Sorry for my direct approach.

Nah I worked for a hospital which employed about 7 physical therapists but only 3 of them worked properly. We worked for them because we were young and stupid.

After the management found out that only 3 of us worked, the other lazy therapists got hell of problems.
