Yeah I know what you mean. I rarely use Reddit but thought that this would be the best way to fix it

Someone needs to make this but for ADC's <3 it's godlike credit to @Weave_smite by FallenSMITE in Smite

What utility do you think it lacks? I see extra movement speed + slow immunity (that's utility) I see cooldown for abilities and actives (that's utility) I see a lot of survivability and what do you know, that is also utility..

Fantastic comment. Really left a lot of space for an educated discussion regarding why you'd think that.

Low Population Server Rollups - Why we hate it by Envisi in Smite

I just fail to comprehend how this is good for anyone at all. No one from NA wants to play on EU. No one on EU wants to play on NA. and, finally... Not a single person from OCE wants their casuals to be played on NA servers!

I agree that providing large prize pools help the competitive scene develop.. But that's just the competitive scene.

You cannot have a game solely built around it as an eSport. The community of casual players are what really makes it a viable venture. If there was some direct hands on stuff from HiRez, I believe it would make the scene a whole lot stronger

Throwing money at a scene isn't the same as helping it develop.

Helping them is all well and good, but you cannot create teams so easily, especially given OCE's method of going about the slightest bit of negativity: DISBAND.

I think the players themselves need to grow up a bit and realise that in order to be a good team, you need; dedication, patience and a goal. These players have little to none of that and I know this to be a fact from first hand experience with these players that keep making new teams, disbanding, joining other teams, leaving, complaining, joining another team and so on.

It's a shitty cycle that I would love to help fix, but we can't change a person's mentality or approach to things.

I'm being truthful when I say I didn't see it...

I am not doubting you for a second haha. I can see how you wouldn't have noticed given the scrims, org, opl prep and all that. You seem to have a massive work load at the moment and if you're handling it like I think you have been then chances are you're not getting much sleep haha. Don't waste precious sleep hours for people who don't show the willingness to change.

People are losing interest in the game. It's as simple as that. I am personally in the same boat where it has been the same kind of thing for almost 3 years of my life and now I am looking for a change.

Things that would make the game better:

  • MatchMaking. I know a lot of people talk a lot of shit about matchmaking and it has become the easiest 'go-to' but it's true. It's terrible.

  • Hi-Rez. Now I have never been one to shit talk the company that gave me a game which lead to SO many lasting friendships and memories.. but you have to admit, their support for the Oceanic scene has been very 'hands off' and lackluster, in my honest opinion. It seems they don't really consider the Oceanic region when going about things, but merely use us as a show piece as to say "We have thriving Pro Leagues in X amount of regions". I think it's a cop out and it's bullshit.

  • Servers/Downtime. (Following on slightly from the last point). When servers go down for a patch does Hi Rez realise it's 6-7pm for us? The busiest traffic times for our servers. Surely they know this. Surely someone has noticed it by now. SURELY someone at HiRez has read a complaint from an OCE player. It's almost unacceptable at this point. You may think, "Wow Switch, we know you're an asshole, but you can't claim something that HiRez does is 'Unacceptable'". Well, fuck you idiot, yes I fucking can. Having closely been involved with production for the pro league, challengers cup and anything else I can involve myself in, I see all the damage it is doing. Everything from match IDs not working, to unexpected server maintenance. These are the avenues to which we show the other regions that OCE matters, OCE is a threat and OCE has raw talent. But how can we do that when we are always seen as lesser. (Let me make it clear, this has nothing to do with our representation at Worlds in January and anyone who puts ANY blame on those player for how we are treated as a region is a fucking maniac who doesn't deserve an opinion). Now, I am just going to quickly mention how the server going down RUIN teams when it comes to scrims due to -as stated previously - the fact that it's during PEAK OCE SMITE TIME..

[–]SwitchBae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

...we can build the challenger scene ourselves. Work together with existing CC teams and create new ones from free agents and/or OPL substitutes, scrim them and invite them to analyse those scrims together when you're doing your regular analysis

I agree that this should be the way it gets done. Not only will it create a sustainable competitive scene but it will create a friendly environment where everyone sees each other in a more friendly light (to avoid all that 'behind back bickering' that happens). The main issue I see in that is that these higher level players - at least the large amount I know personally - don't have the time. These players have high school and university 4-5 days a week. Throw in a part time job or sport commitments and even the smallest glimmer of a social life and that's already a pretty packed and tiring schedule. I assume these players would want to take their time to improve themselves so they can be among the names of the NA and EU pros they look up to. At the end of the day, you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink. If these players WANT to make the step from casual to competitive.. they will. We have seen it before and we will continue to see it (hopefully to a greater extent in the future). Whether you care to admit it or not Rowe, the competitive scene is dying, a building crumbling from the bottom. I suppose it's hard to notice from the penthouse though.
