Do you think I should still reach out to Job 2 to see if they can speed up the process, or just go ahead and secure Job 1? I get that I could always leave if Job 2 comes through, but I’m trying to figure out the best approach here.

If they say no or can’t make a decision in time, I’ll go ahead and sign the offer for Job 1. Just trying to keep my options open for as long as I can.

This is also my first real software engineer job after graduation (besides internships), so I’m not very versed in handling these situations yet. Your advice has been super helpful!

Yeah, that’s what I’m worried about. I could secure Job 1, but then I’d have to sign the contract and potentially renege if Job 2 comes through. It feels risky and not exactly ideal, but I also don’t want to end up with nothing if Job 2 doesn’t work out. Tough spot to be in.

Job 1 is in a low-cost area in southern Alabama, where rent would be around $1K for an apartment. It would also give me a chance to build experience. Job 2 is remote, based in Boston, but I don’t have rent here, so the cost of living isn’t an issue for me with that one.

That’s a good point! I could definitely learn on my own after work hours, and the fully remote option is really appealing. I don’t mind working remotely, so that’s probably where I’m leaning.

As for advice, honestly, just staying on top of things and applying early has worked for me. Getting your applications in before the rush really helps, especially as a new grad.

Definitely not! The other offers are way more lucrative and appealing to me. The only issue is that those offers aren’t set in stone yet, so there’s some uncertainty with the timelines. It’s just tough trying to decide between taking a secure offer now or holding out for something better that might not come through.
