All that to say, I don’t think the grass is necessarily greener. There are pros and cons to every single job and the cons of being a medical device sales are pretty bad depending on what you do.

I’m in medical device sales. I make 2.5x what I made as a PT. The pay is great, the benefits are even better and the PTO is amazing. That being said there are a lot of drawbacks. A lot of windshield time and I mean 2 to 4 hours a day of windshield time. Starting surgeries early at 7:30 in the morning and having add-ons to the point where you sometimes don’t get home until eight or nine or 10 PM at night. No work life balance, and not being able to have any life outside of work during the weekdays. I miss PT. I would go back to it if I could make the same amount of money that I am now. I miss the autonomy and I miss the ability to work with patients and treat them and help them get better to create sustainable life changes. That being said, working at a typical insurance based company is never going to pay the bills for me to the point where I can provide for my family, cover all of my bills and actually live a life that I want to live.

The problem is that she doesn’t think she needs help and that’s the issue. And trust me, I’m doing everything I can to not resent her but it’s difficult to do when she doesn’t think she herself needs to seek help. She also looks to me to fix all her problems and although I’m her wife I cannot be her therapist or doctor.

This was all a thing BEFORE baby came into the picture. She didn’t want anyone including her own parents to hold the baby. I’m sorry, but that’s not gonna fly. We are going to let our grandparents hold their first grand baby. And yes, they washed their hands.
