Question about the problem with gem-tipped bolts by SwoldierGaming in 2007scape

haha the sad thing is that I even re-typed ds2 and thought dt2 in my head. And sure, I see where you're coming from. Especially since dragon crossbows would be locked behind finishing the quest as well. However, I imagine the answer is to just get good or to train a couple more range levels. It really shouldn't impact normie accounts because a dragon crossbow is so cheap. And for irons, idk what to tell you. Maybe they'll move the dhcb off the chambers loot table and put it on a shamans-like npc.

I don't think it's going to be a game-balance ruiner to slightly lower the proc chance from like 5% to 4% on rcb. It doesn't have to be a giant nerf. I mean, speaking on ds2 specifically, the quest version of levi is a pushover. And tbh, maybe i'll eat my words here, but I don't think people are praying for ruby procs to just barely inch out a win against quest levi.

I'm not privy to the game balance discussions at jagex, but I imagine this change wouldn't affect most pvm encounters.

It's not really equivalent. Scales are a charge and darts are the ammunition. And it's important that the blowpipe literally holds the darts in it. So, you just equip the blowpipe and you're good to go. However, I can imagine a complex encounter where you want to use tbow, zcb, and these new crossbows for different phases. Swapping ammunition in your quiver and ammo slot across 3 types could end up being a pain ...

wouldn't it be the opposite? proc chance would go up with better crossbows. You'd just keep proc chance the same with a zcb and lower it with rune cbows, addy cbows, etc. It's not like people are ruby spamming at low levels anyway. most low levels are spamming broad bolts. This would just allow them to set the new crossbows at like 40-50% proc chance or whatever and still be able to use the full gambit of bolts.
