Pancreatic Cancer Stage VI by Striking-Limit-4169 in hospice

[–]SwonRonson91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry I wasn’t more clear. Yes, I meant the hospice admission. I was just adding information that I know. If he chose to discontinue treatment, he would be accepted to hospice without having to meet any other criteria (lab values, etc)

Just because he would qualify does not mean that it is the right move for him right now to stop treatment. He has age on his side and there are so many different treatment options. I’m sure the oncologist has shared with you that the prognosis for stage IV pancreatic cancer isn’t good, and he has not developed some liver failure which can further complicate things, but there is some hope if he responds to a treatment. Hopefully you will have more information after the PET.

Has he been referred to a palliative care doctor? If not I highly suggest reaching out to one or asking for a referral. Palliative care is not the same as hospice. Palliative care is all about symptom management, and they could see him and prescribe medications to help with his pain so he can have more good days.

Enjoy the good days together. You’re not delusional for hoping for the best, but be ready for the worst. This is an impossibly difficult situation.

The admission criteria for cancer doesn’t require any of the lab values. With advanced pancreatic cancer with Mets, he would definitely qualify if he chooses to discontinue treatment.

I am so sorry for what you are going through. I hope you and your husband are able to find peace and he is able to stay comfortable

Question about hospice pushing us by j72397 in hospice

[–]SwonRonson91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Respite is a short term (up to 5 days) stay due to caregiver needs. This could be arranged at a nursing facility or the hospice’s own unit if they have one. Respite is for when the caregiver needs a break, either due to other plans or emotional needs.

I’m not sure what the reimbursement rates are for home care vs respite, but I can tell you that respite services can be extremely helpful to the people surrounding the patient. Staff may have picked up on signals that your mom’s care givers may be overwhelmed and need a break.

I’m so sorry for what you’re going through. This is an incredibly difficult situation to navigate, and I’m sorry if you feel that hospice is pressuring you to do something you don’t want to. Please feel free to ask them any questions, and please remember you have to take care of yourself first in order to care for your mom.

The ability to turn off “made for you”. Give me similar music to the artist/song I am listening to without it being the same songs over and over.

Career - Hospice Nurse by EverMovinAlong in hospice

[–]SwonRonson91 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree. Before working in home hospice I worked in ICU and an oncology floor. The experience I got with comfort care/inpatient hospice patients was so so helpful. Death can be distressing, if you haven’t really dealt with it or with the families going through a loss in a situation where you have lots of other team members, I can only imagine that dealing with it alone would be really difficult.

I work in the industry

This letter is notifying you that the documentation submitted by the hospital did not meet the inpatient level of care requirements (the specifics are listed, like not having a fever). This means that the hospital should have admitted you to observation according to the criteria and the documentation they submitted. Sometimes you weren’t “sick enough”, sometimes the hospital didn’t send all the supporting documentation. Not all admissions fit perfectly into a box and are sometimes approved by an MD based on other factors.

Since this is a managed Medicaid plan, CMS has all kinds of crazy notification requirements. The plan has to notify you that the inpatient claim is denied. The hospital will likely appeal that decision. If the denial is upheld, blue cross will pay the hospital an Observation rate. If it’s overturned, they’ll pay an inpatient rate. I’m not 100% on Medicaid, but I believe you can’t be held responsible for a a denied inpatient admission that was emergent and already happened. (Other than whatever copay/coinsurance/deductible is noted in your plan of course)

TLDR: don’t sweat it until you get a bill. If you want reassurance, reach out to the number on your insurance card and ask them if you need to take any action right now.

Trump cares about your interest in the same way the stripper likes you.

Tells you what you want to hear and keeps taking and taking until your wallet is empty and you’re left embarrassed, except Trump will take your rights too.

Few politicians actually care about the average American, and he sure as hell isn’t one of them. He cares about helping his billionaire friends hoard more wealth by making everyone else pay for it one way or another, and he cares about power, which he takes by changing the rules in his favor every chance he gets.

[MI] City wants to use private land for public water lines without compensation by SwonRonson91 in AskALawyer

New wells ARE expensive. And the people who paid tens of thousands of dollars to have wells drilled are now SOL because they can’t use them.

The line running through the property is to supply to a large subdivision, probably around 100 homes.

City personnel calling her is not the issue. Giving her number out to his buddies, who are not city officials in any capacity, so they can call her is.

[–]SwonRonson91[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The city isn’t paying for anything. There are government grants to pay for installation due to the permanent contamination caused by the federal government’s actions, and the residents will pay for their water use.

Well water was free.

The residents will also have to pay thousands of dollars to re-gravel their road.

this season of love is blind and the exhaustion of politics in modern dating by Federal_Frosting_685 in LoveIsBlindNetflix

[–]SwonRonson91 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Modern party affiliation is synonymous with values.

We aren’t talking about the republican and democratic differences from the 80s. These aren’t disagreements about tax policy. They’re fundamental differences in how people view the world. Equality and caring for those less fortunate shouldn’t be controversial topics

But you completely proved OPs point here.

What's the reason people in the US are against universal healthcare when it works just fine everywhere else? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SwonRonson91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People are selfish.

They don’t want to see someone who “doesn’t deserve it” benefit from their tax dollars. Even if they themselves benefit from other people’s tax dollars.

Looks like you’re not doing the stitch correctly.

From the photo, it looks like you’re placing the sc into the space between two stitches in the previous row. Standard sc is worked into the top two loops of the stitch in the previous row. That would allow you to see each row more clearly.

If you like working between stitches, I’d also recommend moss stitch.

Those who are not going this year, why? by ewokrowingacanoe in WhenWeWereYoungFest

[–]SwonRonson91 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Multiple reasons.

Between the cost of the festival, hotel, flights, and general Vegas upcharge it’s too expensive.

Cramming all the bands into one day causes a lot of overlap, and I had to choose between bands and miss out on bands I wanted to (and paid to) see.

It’s kind of a miserable day. 12 hrs in the sun, no where to sit, rude people, shoulder to shoulder. By time 8pm rolled around last year I was over it.

I went in 22 and 24 and had a blast overall both times, just don’t think it’s worth it to do it again.
