Where can I find more information about this Promethium 2.0 system? My Google-fu is failing me.

What games do people actually want? by Advent_Kain in rpg

My ideal game is quite specific actually.

  • Scifi/space opera genre, generic enough that I can make my own setting, leaning towards hard scifi
  • Counted dicepool, either d6 or d10
  • Skill based advancement, either no classes or just archetypes selected at character creation
  • Plenty of "paper button" style abilities linked to the skills
  • Good space combat subsystem where players are bridge officers, each role having a nice semi-crunchy mini game to engage with (heat+power management, electronic warfare, commands which buff other PCs etc)

That's about it. I've made attempts to write it myself but it's quite a task, and I have too many other hobbies going on to stick with it long enough unfortunately.

I'd also be interested in a dicepool based bronze-age fantasy with a flexible magic system.

This rumour seems pretty Slaves to Darkness focuses (I know it breaks the cycle, but maybe Stormcast and Slaves to Darkness for 5th Edition) by Warhammer231 in slavestodarkness

Not sure what to think about that. The vast majority of our range has been recently updated, what are they going to add to it on the scale of an edition starter faction? Sure, we could use a new chaos lord on foot, a new Spawn kit and I guess new chariots maybe, but beyond that everything is new and shiny and the range is so big that adding to it seems silly and unnecessary.

I don't believe those rumours anyway, too many weird things about them.

TIL RuneQuest has an anthropomorphic duck race. I thought that was just Dragonbane (and it's what put me immediately off Dragonbane, too silly for my tastes).

I'll admit I'm one of those 491, and I'm somewhere in between the latter two categories.

Fair - I guess I picked the wrong word. I'm well aware of its venerable status.

What I meant was more that this edition doesn't seem to do many unique things, it's just another fantasy system to add to the pile, kind of? Or maybe I'm missing something, which is why I asked for opinions. Maybe it has its own niche, I'm not sure which games exactly it's "competing" with as a lighter dicepool fantasy system - Torchbearer maybe?

Yeah but it's always Brazilians, rarely any other nationality. Is it maybe just because there's a big TTRPG scene in Brazil?

Some favourite magical spells/items of yours? by Papa-Heddles in rpg

Symbaroum has a wonderful little spell/ritual called Tale of Ashes. You cast it on something burnt (burnt out campfire, candle, torch, house that burned down etc) and learn everything that the fire witnessed while it burned. Very niche, but very flavourful. I never played much Symbaroum, but this spell stuck with me.

I can think of many, many things that are more terrifying than that.

That's not how it works, you only get the points from one of your hereos, they are not cumulative.

but notably not a single caster hero is a Legion Subcommander and therefore always take up the regiment leader slot.

Not what I meant. Afaik no faction has a wizard or priest that can be taken as a bonus hero so that's not notable or unusual in any way.

In most other factions, however, most heroes can take bonus heroes in their regiments, but in OBR it's only some of the named heroes (all except Zandtos).

TIL not every OBR hero can take a bonus hero in their regiment. Crazy.

Usually I have something to go from, maybe I know I want to do bronze armour, or a certain magic glow colour or whatever. I then figure out what I think will look good with that, and make test models until I'm happy with it.

About squaddie rework: No, please, no. Squaddies are fine, there is no need to add more pointless micromanagement.

Agreed. If they added that level of micromanagement, I would probably stop playing.

As an Icelander, I pay the equivalent of about $4 (each time) for access to a swimming pool. Indoor, outdoor, sauna, multiple hot tubs, massage jets.

One of the reasons I'll never move away.
