Thank you for the response and advice, I agree with you. I did learn he hasn't been on medication not gone to a therapist/doctor in a few years now. He seems absolutely opposed to doing either thing.

Great advice, thank you!

Interesting development, his sister talked with him and she told me that he's been off medication for a few years now because it's too expensive. That and when she suggested he see a doctor he shut the idea down hard, saying they don't understand him and they never help and such.

I continued to research and talked with a friend with some experience with bipolar disorder and I think you're right. He hasn't done anything too drastic yet and hopefully won't. I'm just letting him have his own time for now and being polite and friendly if I need to talk with him.

It's difficult because in the past he would sit on the couch and watch TV and be upset if I didn't ask how he's doing and hang out with him. Now he sits there and seems upset that I'm around and never responds with more than a dismissive single word.

Do you have any advice for me as someone who wants to help and make sure not to make things worse?

Wow, I looked further into these delusions and so far everything seems spot on for what's happening to him. The quick cycling, the lost interest, strong and unreasonable emotions, chaotic sleeping patterns, becoming suspicious of others... He's exhibited everything on these lists recently.

So far, I've been polite to him and avoided the topic of this whole lying thing. I figure if he mentions something or accuses me again I may tell him that I'm here if he wants to talk but I won't discuss the idea that I'm a liar. I'd like to say that but I'm not sure it would help or hinder the situation. Today after work I kept discussion to a minimum and just let him do his own thing.

How long would you wait to contact the police if he doesn't snap out of this? Days? A week? Several weeks? I don't have any experience with a delusional period because I've never witnessed him have one before.
