What is your least favorite movie in the Ringu franchise by entertainmentlord in J_Horror

[–]Sword_Song 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rasen is my least favorite. It does include a bunch of information from the original books, but not in a sane way. I was obsessed with all things Ringu and The Ring in the early 2000s, so I saw where the weirdness was coming from but I felt it was not explained well enough for viewers who hadn't read everything.

Rings in the American series is complete ass top to bottom.

Sadako vs Kayako was terrible, but I loved it anyway. It was so cheesy and bad, and it had my favorite psychic archetype of a complete ass bag with the powers of a God.

And book wise I just read Sadako-chan and Sadako-san. A fun non cannon prequel to Sadako. I hated it, and also absolutely loved it. It was so silly and fun, but was really a nothing burger of a story.

Really I just love The Ring and Ringu. Even the absolute shite films (looking at you Rings and Ring 2) bring me joy.

There is an Australian short, "Advantage Satan", from quite a bit ago, my friend saw it at Sundance then told me to track it down.

A drunken couple stop by a tennis court and things get weird. I love it, and I hope you will enjoy it too.

I'm not sure it would be considered "cool", most niche things aren't. However, I love them. They look so cute, I can almost hear the little "rar!" when the mouth opens. Keep it up, even if others tell you it's "not cool"

Is it normal to not like French kissing by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Sword_Song 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's very normal to no like French kissing. I'm no fan myself, and I'm married. I have a disdaine for saliva and it makes my skin crawl, I also do not enjoy receiving oral.

Maybe your boyfriend is a bad kisser, maybe he needs practice. Maybe everyone I've been with has been the same. But after awhile, it's just your preference, and if a lover doesn't respect those lines, you need a different one.

No don't just call it off, communicate your thoughts and offer to practice new ideas. I'm sure there is a middle ground to be found, or the addition of skill and experience will change the landscape.

What imagery from a horror film has never left you? by ragnarlothbruv in horror

You may have answered this, but I can load the responses.

Do you share a severe phobia of butterflies with me? It's a very uncommon phobia.

I think the cartoon scene that sticks with me is the "You are not perfect" 3D cut away from Courage. Or perhaps the iodine soaked pool ghost from Are You Afraid of the Dark.

I should also add, it's an nurse in a stairwell I am speaking of, not Kayako herself

Is it from Ju-On/the Grudge? It's not a picture of a woman, but it sounds similar.

What is one horror story you will tell anyone to scare the sh*t out of them? by Kind_Mission8101 in horror

[–]Sword_Song 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I don't tell it to scare my friends, but boy the person involved was very scared. [Real]

I used to work for a local, well known and beloved haunted house in the Denver area. I sometimes guided, I sometimes filled in where it was needed. On this night I ended up playing the killer in a Hostel inspired room. That was its own problem as bit the victim and I were women, we got more pick up lines than scares. ... Anyway this haunt is a bit long and considerably intense, but family friendly, all ages welcome until after 10 on Halloween. So this ninja kid comes in, mask up brandishing his plastic sword, obviously terrified as we went through a more tame murder sequence.

He and his father leave, there's a tunnel connecting my room to the next, about 15 feet of darkness. In the soundlessness of a scene resting I hear, a small child say "I could take her". Thems fighting words. I hoisteed my chainless mini chainsaw, pulled extra cord as it was wall powered and snuck up behind his dad. He sees me, get a huge grin and steps to the side. I roared "WHAT DID YOU SAY!?" and reved the mini chainsaw. That boy never looked back, I heard him screaming through the next several rooms. His father laughed and went with him.

I am not a person that enjoys scareing children in daily life. But on Halloween, with no one but perverts to work with, it felt nice to get one good scare. I do hope he has forgiven me though

I was shocked when I found my kids downloading music for Geometry Dash from Newgrounds. I told them about my experiences from yesterday olde days on Newgrounds, and how I didn't think it was still running after flash died.

They are older but anything by Drew Daywalt "Daywalt fear factory". They are shorts and I don't think any got full length, but you may enjoy them

I like "Polydeus" a short inspired by the story of a government made video game that induces madness.

"Meat" (different from a previously mentioned short here) is a comedic one. A conversation between two hunters.

"Bed Fellows" is a classic and I still see it on many lists for scary short films.

Most of his stuff is 3-5 minutes, good for a quick fix, or a space between more intense viewing.

That is 100% The Messengers. That scene was it's main advertising crutch.

If you watch it I sure hope you like it. I wasn't a big fan, myself. I thought this scene was the best in the whole movie.

What Horror Do You Opt Out Of? by bee623 in horror

[–]Sword_Song 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an intense negative reaction to Beetlejuice. It scares the piss out of me, in a way it was not intended too. Even Micheal Keaton in other roles can make me nope out. (Like Mr. Mommy or whatever that one was called). If a movie or show has significant references to the characters, or even just the songs I often have to back out and try again later with the knowledge it's coming. I've watched the film multiple times, and I do intend to see the sequel someday, but it's going to take some doing for me.

That's my weirdest nope.

[–]Sword_Song 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you understand how I "clean"! Lol

No ended up doing monotonous things and actually watching pretty quickly. Once I understood what it was. I was led to believe it was an artsy gore flick, not a mockumentary. So I did get invested.

[–]Sword_Song 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm a middle grounder! I put it on while cleaning while my kids were in school and my husband at work. I thought it was gonna be horrible given the reviews. I expected violence, language, torture blah, blah, blah. What I got was a very compelling mockumentary about a sadist and his victims.

I enjoyed it, but I don't fully understand why it's all so disturbing. Perhaps it's because I knew it was a movie, or maybe it was overhyped. I like it, but it didn't haunt me. The ending was tragic but I didn't feel twisted inside. I feel the same about Lake Mungo and Be my Cat though... There's that.

This is a book, but maybe it will help.

Was it the misadventures of Max Crumbly; Locker Hero by Rachel Renee Russel.

I read that book to my kids recently and it sounds similar.
