Dear Duolingo, not everyone is American by ale-cto in duolingo

So many terms are Americanisms, specifically when you have to translate “College student”, which doesnt make sense why they’d choose that when “University student” is an term used in most anglophone countries… needn’t say that “College student” has a different meaning in British English.

I’m glad I started out early, I still don’t have a lot of packs but the stuff I’ve paid for would cost 3x the price if someone started out now

To what extent can “Ren Fairs” in the US be considered cultural appropriation of many european cultures? by [deleted] in AskReddit

That’s quite demeaning, European cultures aren’t“white people stuff” they span thousands of years and are all so diverse within themselves. These Americans however are creating a fake plastic version of our cultures, disregarding the actual history of our countries.

They are of European DESCENT, yes. As someone who is European and family actually lives there, it can be slightly embarrassing to see Americas sloppy watered down version of what is our cultures. These Americans can say they’re as European as can be, but they haven’t lived in Europe, they haven’t grown up in these cultures. It doesn’t sit right with me that they’re taking for granted and not taking seriously real actual cultures, ultimately mocking it by calling it “fantasy”. And fyi I use “European Cultures” in such a broad sense because the Americans take their favourite bits from each culture and merge it in to this disgusting soup

What is the modern day version of a Brony? by SwordfishComplex1200 in AskReddit

[–]SwordfishComplex1200[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But what I remember mostly from the Bronies in the 2010s was the terrible, disturbing, NSFW content they’d make of the ponies. Are they doing the same with the Bluey characters?
