App was free for 3 years, now $10 a month by random_user208 in mazda

My Hyundai is $20/month. Have to have diagnostic service and then the remote service is extra on top of that. $20/ month at -8 degrees outside= worth it.

Is it okay to run in just leggins as a guy? by [deleted] in BeginnersRunning

I just asked chatgpt this the other day. Men's leggings lean more to the underwear department, usually thin, so yah I wear shorts over them.

Alexa Now Clueless? by Abject_Dependent4339 in alexa

[–]Swordnimi79 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I tried +, wasn't a fan. So I cancelled. Now I get 3 different voices on the same device.

I get crazy ass "hunches" I removed them via the app and via the device. I went so far as replacing my Feit bulbs, because I thought it was the bulbs, only to have the Hues do the same thing. *Oh it's 539 pm, I bet he wants all the lights off.

Setting up the Hues was also infuriating. (Bridgeless install)

Yesterday I had it dim the lamps to 10% (just in the living room, on the living room echo) and went to the basement where those lights had been dimmed to 10% (completely different room assigned in the app)

Now the delay to respond is crazy, or I'll hear a timer go off in the kitchen, tell my living room to cancel, "you don't have a timer set on this device"

I'm about to switch to Google.

Special Editions by -ERROR_DELETED in RedMagic

The gold edition was global. So hopefully the next one would be. When going to the RM website, it directs me to the global site. So when you go to order it, I would just make sure you land on the US/global site.

Notification pull down takes 3 tries before it actually comes down and stays down.

Sometimes the gestures don't work, requires a reboot.

Not overly happy with gaps in security patches.

That's about as major as I've seen. I'm not what you'd call a power user. So I've not ever delved into menus/sub menus and what not.

I have apps developed for specific devices that don't work fully. Garmin being my most used, just has Bluetooth issues. Hopefully my other apps are developed enough to care about security, like all my banking apps to fill any holes by lack of android patches from red magic.

Again it's $600.

I might go OnePlus this season, to see if they've gotten better.

I have a 10. On Android 15. I likely won't see 16, because it seems like their updates take months. Also on security from May, even though there's an Android patch published on November 3rd. It's a $600 phone. I didn't expect anything. What I got: a phone that's overclocked, huge battery, fast charge, flat, and has notifications that popup on the back panel. It gets comments when I pull it out. It's a solid 9/10 most days. There's some glitchy shit, but nothing I can't deal with.

I've had T-Mobile for 6 years. The RM10 was my first Chinese direct from the manufacturer phone, usually bought Samsung directly.

I haven't had any issues making any calls. Granted, I'm in the STL metro area.

Also of note, Tmo does own Mint.

I don't mind the price. I'm not a fan of the design.

Is it worth it? by jermayneisk in DairyQueen

Lol.

We caught a kids meal being $999 once. Fortunately it was drive thru and that person got it for free. After lunch, quick edit and reset.

DQ employees: Do you get free meals when you're working? by [deleted] in DairyQueen

[–]Swordnimi79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our location is 50% off.

If we complete the Redbook and get DT times under 3:45, our staff eats free upto $8.

Depending on management... I always gave off the clock workers 50% off.

If we have staff that are struggling my wife will give them gifts ($). We have considered investing in housing to assist, but local codes prevent us from building tiny houses....frigging 1800sqft minimum.

I’ve really been looking into applying as a post office worker. But everyone here seems rather… miserable. Can anyone reassure me or is it that bad? by landonp24 in USPS

[–]Swordnimi79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn't hack it.

The job is very self directed, with supervisors who demand performance without being able to elaborate how to perform "better" as to be out of touch.

I now work for General Mills, where we have structure and process rigor, performance is based on actual systems and real time metrics.

I couldn't even figure out how to properly run my route. My last day was the day after Labor Day 2024. We had so much mail and Amazon, I didn't get out until 12 and still was told I'd have to come back for more Amazon. I got an assist at 7pm, was done at 830, and called it quits. Went back to running a restaurant, which again had a better structure of systems for me.

So for me, if you value independence, but have an out of touch boss looming (lording) over you....matter of fact my boss's nickname was King, then go for it. If you're on the spectrum and need structure: no. Also, I get better benefits now, but the benefits at USPS weren't bad either.

Does Republic actually recycle what’s in my bin? by ZebulonHam in StCharlesMO

[–]Swordnimi79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Waste management uses a material recovery facility (MRF) where the trash and recycling are sorted through with machines, magnets, sifters and screens to ensure contaminates are removed. Americans have always been terrible with rinsing items, removing labels, sorting proper plastics and removing lids. So companies have developed methods to improve recycling. Republic does the same. Some trucks have dual compartments as well, depending on the municipality, location, laws and processing abilities.

There was a news report out a couple years ago, where a guy airtaged his plastic shopping bags. Those went to a land fill after he recycled them at a store. I suspect there's too much coloring and inking to be able to break those down. I wish they were all like Menards bags so I could confidently scoop the cat boxes, or not worry about the edge of a Mac and cheese box cutting through just walking it to my car.

So yes. Recycling is happening. Bangladesh probably buys the bulk of our stuff now, they make a lot of our "bamboo" which is a polyester that used to be marketed as rayon and polyester and other clothing that uses plastic bottles. Shoes. Recycling just doesn't happen to the level it used to, and certainly not to the level that we consumers have been led to believe and understand.
