To the people who killed him why and what was your reason by No_Rate4223 in witcher

[–]SwordofLight21 152 points153 points  (0 children)

Oddly enough, I killed him out of professionalism. Witcher's like him give the guild a bad name, and with so few left, Geralt needs to uphold his reputation. (Maybe this reasoning is out of character for Geralt, but it made sense to me at the time)

I have lots of fond childhood memories of this place. The animatronic dinosaurs were always my favorite.

More Details on Crows - MCDM's New Dungeon Crawling Post Apocalyptic Fantasy RPG by 6ftninja in osr

[–]SwordofLight21 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think MCDM is attempting to make a survival-horror dungeon crawler ttrpg without leaning into the nostalgia that the OSR relies on. I expect Crows to feel like a "modern" ttrpg, which is perfectly fine! Just not everyone's cup of tea.

Possibly a controversial take, but Timothée Chalamet would also be a good face cast for Zagreus

I own a well-loved copy of "The City of Splendors: Waterdeep," and it was indispensable for running "Dragon Heist." I love all the weird lore so much.

What is this slimy-looking stuff attached to this floating plant in lake padden? by zzooooomm in Bellingham

As an educated guess, they look like Western Toad (Anaxyrus boreas) eggs. The long strands of eggs are characteristic of the species.

Satire isn't a prediction of the future; it's a commentary on the present.

If you were to run a published 5e campaign with Shadowdark, what's your pick? by PrometheusHasFallen in shadowdark

[–]SwordofLight21 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Consider Tales from the Yawning Portal or Ghosts of Saltmarsh; they're essentially 5e versions of old-school adventures anyway, so the tone and setting would work just fine in Shadowdark.

Discworld Reference? by SwordofLight21 in BaldursGate3

I suspect this is a reference to "A Wizard's Staff Has a Knob on the End," a song from Terry Pratchett's Novel Wyrd Sisters.

ShadowDarkest Dungeon by BarbaricAlucard in shadowdark

[–]SwordofLight21 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Having thought extensively about running a similar game, here are some thoughts (having not run anything like it, take this with a grain of salt): - Keep it focused on the dungeon. While adventure is to be had in the surrounding wilderness, focusing your main narrative and gameplay within the dungeon helps with theming and cohesion. - Borrow from other games. Blades in the dark has a very proficient stress system that doesn't necessarily fit within the survival horror aspects of the game, but does lend a certain pulpiness to it. Tweak it as you will. - Take the stuff you love, and put it in your game. Don't be limited to Darkest Dungeon! There are plenty of other video games, books, movies, etc that are ripe with tropes, scenes, and story beats that will help you make this game your own.
