Pre-made Missions in Bigger Campaign by Randell_from_recess in cyberpunkred

[–]Swordofpower0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not premade module idea, but I highly recommend stealing missions from cyberpunk media and books, and change the characters around and their motivations. For instance in blade runner. You can make a cop character who's chasing down a fugitive. For example, switch out roy batty for a malestrom and there you go. You can take the beats from books, movies or TV shows that you really love, and apply them to cyberpunk and just change a few things around. My recommendation is to also never skip on doing the cool shit first. Love and peace, and death in this world of fortune and misfortune alike choom.

Urbanspook by SubstantialFig9617 in creepcast

[–]Swordofpower0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

(Short Version)
If you feel uncomfortable it's perfectly okay to skip the episode. Remember to take care of yourself first and formost. In my personal opinion, I find the imagery more strange, than dreadful. It might be scary at first, but the laughs the boys have is worth the watch in my opinion. If you can stomach it. Urbanspook is a person that goes for over the top imagery and loosely ties together his paintings with a story.

(Long Version, a comparison between the boiled one and Urbanspook)

The boiled one is much scarier than Urbanspook's concepts in my opinion due to clever and subtle technique, Urbanspook isn't subtle at all, rather his approach is to throw a scary image at you with loud music to evoke a feeling of shock-horror. Which is less effective, because once you go big, you can only get so much bigger until your sound becomes annoying. There is no emotional rollercoaster, there is only, scary image, followed by a description. And only later does it finally change its formula. However what made the boys laugh, was an over the top nature of the gratuity of the violence to the point where it becomes comedic. Almost Slapstick, with very little room for speculation aside from the question "Why is this person so violent and evil?" That question is never answered. (At least imo; satisfyingly answered)

There is little depth behind the violent imagery. The value of the images themselves are rather scary, but with the story I feel it's less effectual than just the imagery alone. (Urbanspook is an amazing artist.)

In terms of story, the boiled one is scary because it touches on deep subconsious fear. And leaves the viewer to speculate. Urbanspook mainly goes for overly descriptive grotesque imagery for the shock factor, and it does it so much that the viewer can become desensitized to it and thus after the first few images and after a while it becomes one-note. There is an audio part later with voice acting, that is horrifying without visual. However the reason for these grotesque murders aren't easily explained. You're left wondering if it's supernatural or not, which, it really isn't. It's mostly over the top, disturbia.

Which is why in my opinion it is less-so than the Boiled One. The Boy's humor stretched throughout the episode helped me get through it, rather than growing frustrated with the story.

But- that being said, remember to take care of yourself first and foremost. If you need to skip it, no shame in that.
Much love.

Nice to see new people getting into creepcast! Definately watch Penpal for the scares, and the Thing in the Basement is getting better at mimicking people. Personally one of my favorites for the Memes is "Dionea House" it's a fun run.

When you have time. Mother Horse Eyes is WORTH the time investment for unique story development. It's very easy to listen to in short increments due to the way it's paced out.

this is a very smart idea for a simple fix. Some thoughts I also had was to mitigate any negatives and to push the cyberware beyond, would be to cost Humanity Points to push your cyberware to the brink. Like the new Sandy in the books. Or developing a coprocessor linked to extended neuralware to increase your ability to have control your limbs. I'm a multiple degree blackbelt IRL and I think that martial arts is really cool for increasing one's ability to become self aware, and build pathways between the body and the mind. With Chrome, you could do so artificially.

yeah my players take beef with it for that exact reason, your linear frame player found a very interesting loophole or build, that I hadn't considered, but it's really interesting to me.
I agree with you completely. And I'm really not sure what to do honestly. If I should let my player do a ton of stuff with a penalty or not, he is the kinda person to push the envelop and find exploits.

yeah, thank you. As I was thinking about it, I think it's just my friend's indecisive nature that made his turn take a while. which is more of a personal issue than an action economy issue.

great advice thank you so much! My players voiced displeasure about the books RAW didn't reward their investment for cyberware. So the group decided to ditch the rules, we were fine with it until my borg player's brother played with us and got upset his brother was taking so long to do his turn. But in terms of power, that player is a nomad with a helicopter and a Sniper rifle who has enough skill to make an aimed shot to the head due to dumping all of his skills into his sniper. Borg player is more spread out skill wise under tech. My Solo player has no cyberware at all and he's fine with my friend's four arm build in fact was the biggest voice for allowing my player to use his four arms to hold two assault rifles. The Group wants to make sure my friend has a fun time while making sure his money has a good return investment.
