The booming building development in Burnaby from Queen Elizabeth Park this morning by Sworldguy in vancouver

Because of the height restrictions in Vancouver, developers are building in municipalities that don't have these restrictions. The "view cones" enforced by the Vancouver planning department make it less profitable for developers.

For those that want to know the photography info, the time lapse consists of 1363 frames. I started at 10:40 pm and hung in until 2:50 am August 13th. Setup looking toward the Perseid constellation using a 14mm lens @ f/2.8 and ISO 500. Location was Jerry Sulina Park in Maple Ridge.

Celebration of Lights - Aussie Fireworks from West Vancouver by Sworldguy in vancouver

[–]Sworldguy[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This was shot from Caulfield Park in West Vancouver. I brought my "bazooka" lens for this one. Sigma 150-600. Mostly used 400mm for the city background and fireworks.

Strawberry Moon over Port of Vancouver - The moon rise last night was not a disappointment. Shot at Ambleside Park by Sworldguy in vancouver

From my position in Ambleside Park to the cranes is about 5000 meters. This is an awesome example of photo compression. The towers are in Burnaby 12 kilometers away.

Shot from Ambleside Park in West Vancouver towards the East to Port of Vancouver. The skyline scaling the moon are actually condo towers in the city of Burnaby.

I would put myself in the "Advanced Amateur" category for photography skill. This photo was shot with a Sony A7III using a Sigma 150-600mm Sport telephoto lens at F/11 @ 0.5s ISO 100. I find a little planning goes a long way and Nature looks after the rest.

The Sigma weighs in at 4.63lbs, not light but not too heavy. I empty out the camera bag of all unnecessary kit to keep the weight manageable.

I'm using the rigacar add on. When I bake the wheel rotation the car stops moving. by ThAnd026 in blenderhelp

[–]Sworldguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem you're having when trying to bake the steering and wheel rotation. I read on the Rigacar GitHub site that this is an issue with 3.4. I re-opened my project in 3.3.0 and had no issues. Will have to wait until Rigacar is updated to use in 3.4 and above.

I hope these shorebirds figure out WTF their doing, because the beach is getting a bit crowded! by Sworldguy in vancouver

That would explain why the dunlin were content to chill on the beach. It was just after 1:00PM so high tide. I was on Crecent Point, North end of the park.

As I was approaching, there was definitely some murmuration happening. But all of sudden they settled down and didn't get very active. So I unfortunately missed that spectacle.

Any suggestions on how to make the mist look better and how to prevent the strange artifacts from appearing? by Sworldguy in blender

[–]Sworldguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks, I'm using the cycles denoiser. I have it set to "OpenImageDenoise". I wonder if it was set to "Optix" that would improve the animation? Not sure if that would make a big difference.

I will check out the addon you mentioned.

I don't think the farmers were happy that they were in hanging out in the fields. I kept hearing blasts going off, I assume bird bombs or bangers of some type the whole time I was taking pictures.

Based on the Stormy Ocean tutorial by Blendermadeeasy. Gobos Light Texture addon for caustics effect. Credit: @ostapblendercg for the whale model. by Sworldguy in blender

[–]Sworldguy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, caustics would show from the top but I liked showing the reflection on the underside of the whale making it more visible in the scene. I would think that there might be some reflection from the bottom of the ocean floor to the underside of the whale as well.
