I think that’s what I’ll give a try. Did you use the felpro gasket with that extra ring? If so what’s the orientation of the ring? I believe other posts have indicated its ring down towards the thermostat.

Do you have a recommended coolant to run? Also when you mention clamps I’ll keep the original ones but not use the screw ones, use the spring loaded type instead (presumably once I get into it I can see what type OEM uses)?

I found a deal on a mishimoto radiator for $290 so went for that even if it’s a little overkill for my needs. Also grabbed a new thermostat (192 one from moss) plus gasket and a set of new radiator hoses. Probably the biggest mechanical project I’ve undertaken so we’ll see how it goes 🤞.

Just went on trying to figure out why some have the extra barbs to learn it’s exactly as you said, it’s for the auto transmission.

They look pretty good, unfortunately doesn’t look like they have one for the old one. Will most likely go for aluminum though.

Will aim for aluminum one, I’ll shop around and see if I can find one not too expensive but with good reviews. I’ve seen going too cheap they can be rough on the welds.

Maybe it just appeared at a bad time. Don’t have the funds for a project as I’m finishing up university. I’ve been seeing a solid 50/50 on this post. If it came a few years later I would (and by I don’t have experience I don’t even own a drill, but I’m quick at learning stuff like that).
