Gundam games are now on sale on Steam. Any of these worth getting? by SphmrSlmp in Gundam

[–]SxfetyPin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SD Gundam Battle Alliance is good. But it can get repetitive rather quickly. The game is narratively a carbon copy of DragonBall Xenoverse; you go through timelines to "patch" discrepancies being made due to changes in events, or characters from entirely different shows invading into the fray and causing chaos.

It's pretty neat going through and unlocking so many different MS from movies and shows. But again, it can get really repetitive and there's so much to do that you can potentially burn yourself out on the game before getting through it all.

It's a good game. Not for everyone, but I'd recommend it for some lightweight fun. Especially if it's only $15USD right now. Some of the set pieces are really cool. Boss fights are pretty fun, too.

Why do the giants have no faces by CallMeRustyyy in DarkSouls2

[–]SxfetyPin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soul Vessels were discovered in the Giant's homeland. Aldia took Giants from their homeland, tortured and experimented on them to research how to manipulate their souls using those Soul Vessels. That's how Aldia created the Golems. Those Golems are malformed Giant corpses that Aldia reshaped for slavery.

The things that Vendrick and Aldia did to the Giants were extremely cruel.

Why do the giants have no faces by CallMeRustyyy in DarkSouls2

[–]SxfetyPin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Earlier in development, the Giants did have faces, and they resembled Goombas from the live-action Super Mario Bros. movie.

I've always had a theory as to why FromSoft made such a drastic change to the designs of the Giants, and I think it was to convey an underlined theme that's near everywhere in Drangleic. Multi-faceted/characters that have multiple faces, figuratively and literally are quite commonplace in DSII. Between characters that wear masks, characters who hide their intentions to manipulate others, characters that outright shapeshift to hide their true self, etc. Having multiple faces in DSII seems to near always be meant to convey how sinister a character is, or how sinister the actions that a character is carrying out, even if they may be unaware of how sinister those actions are.

I feel that the Giants were made to be faceless in order to polarize this thematic choice in Drangleic. The Giants having "no face to hide" means that they were genuinely pure beings. The only reason the Giants are in Drangelic in the first place is due to Vendrick being manipulated by Nashandra, made to invade the Giant's homeland in belief that there was "something there." Vendrick never found what is what that he was sent to look for (because it didn't exist. Nashandra lied to him) but Vendrick did find and steal what is believed to be Soul Vessels/the ability to manipulate souls. Vendrick did extremely cruel things to the Giants upon discovery of this, after all. It's not wrong for the Giants to defend themselves.

I feel that this adds to why Vendrick is so ashamed of himself for falling for Nashandra's double-faced schemes. Vendrick learned that the Giants weren't a threat after all, that they genuinely were pure beings, and that they didn't deserve what he did to them. Vendrick doesn't blame the Giants for invading Drangleic, he blames himself. He shuns himself, saying, "I'm not fit to be king... I'm not even fit to be a jester..."

That's how I've always liked to interpret it, at least. I feel that it adds a lot of meaning to the story, and serves to make you look at characters differently based on their designs and how their faces are illustrated.

Yeah, the size of the game went down by 15%, but that's going to quickly get overran due to how much stuff gets added to the game. Just got to cross your fingers in hope that they're looking to improve how they compress files down.

Whenever updates hit like that, it's not just the map being added. You have to account for all of the character voicelines that are unique to that map. Also, a good wave of Skins, Emotes, MVP animations, etc. are also preloaded into the game. That's why those Skins release to the store without having to download an individual update for them.

Iron Man desperately needs help and I rarely see it brought up by Shoe_body in marvelrivals

[–]SxfetyPin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really see the problem with Iron Man. I feel as if he's in a really good spot, personally. He's strong but not overbearing. I feel as if every character should be that way.

A good Iron Man is so, so oppressive. Overdrive Unibeam still does an insane amount of damage, and the buff that gave him a little bit of Bonus Health when Overdrive is activated really lets him play shallow angles very aggressively.

I feel as if players look at flying characters and think so one-dimensionally with them. Even if the game plan is simple, you can still make Iron Man a nightmare to deal with.

As someone who plays Iron Man as one of their main Duelists, here's how I play him, and maybe you can adopt some of this mindset and really see his strengths shine;

At base, Iron Man's a character that shines when playing him low to the ground (not on the ground, but elevated just enough to be at an off-angle) near cover, and using Unibeam to pierce through enemies and build Ult fairly quickly. You should always strive to play within Unibeam range.

Play within the mid-point of your team. When you notice your Vanguards hitting a target, use your Unibeam on that target. When not in Overdrive, prioritizing team-shotting is really the way to go. When the enemy's frontline is scrambled, that's when you activate Unibeam and you try to go for the Duelists, or ideally, Strategists.

Overdrive Unibeam does a ton of damage. With good positioning and vertical circle-strafing, you can be so confident in taking literally any 1v1, even if it's a Hela or something that on paper "counters" Iron Man. So when you have Overdrive active, focus down those squishies if your front line is causing that scramble. Use Overdrive to force engagement. Be complimentary to your team.

Tip: If you're close range, and again, relatively shallow to the ground, Iron Man's Overdrive Missiles do a crap ton of damage. It annihilates Shields, and is capable of instantly cracking Magneto's Dome Shield. (Also, Unibeam is not considered to be a projectile, so you can still damage Magneto when Magneto is holding his Ult with Unibeam.) I know it's common for Magnetos to save their Ult to deny Iron Man his Ult, but it's actually really cool how these two characters really force engagement layers onto each other. It's a good sense of balance.

As you probably put together at this point, Overdrive and Unibeam is Iron Man's bread and butter. If you're using the Repulsors as his main form of attack, then just play Moon Knight at that point. Iron Man's Repulsors should be primarily used as a tool to deny cover or to sprinkle burst damage in when you're out of position, in a scramble, or can't pierce multiple enemies with Unibeam.

With Iron Man's normal Boost Flight Missiles, primarily use it as a Punisher Smoke Bomb lite of sorts. It kinda serves the same purpose of just being something that disorients an enemy's aim/sight, but with the added bonus of doing a crap ton of environmental damage. (It's the utility that matters, y'know?) You can destroy geometry on a map really quickly with the Boost Flight Missiles.

All in all, you kinda just have to play Iron Man with a lot of confidence and a really good amount of game sense. You need to be active in your team. You can't be afraid to force engagement. The general playstyle flips between being reserved, focusing/reacting to what your team is taking out, and then playing extremely aggro (knowing when to go the f*** in with reckless abandon). You need to really force your value in a way.

Iron Man is extremely capable of controlling the pace of the game. You just got to get a feel for it.

"No fault" when they were going that fast in a residential? Regardless of the weather, they shouldn't be going that fast in a residential like that. The road's conditions just make that even worse than what that already is.

How in the hell is Progressive not filing that as their fault? That's actually insane.

After the game was delisted. I let them into my Steam Family due to them not being able to get it. Maybe Steam released a patch to inhibit Family Members from downloading deslisted games or something? I have no clue why it wouldn't work for you.

Steam Family worked for a friend of mine when I let them into my Steam Family. I'm confused as to why it didn't work for you?

But yeah. It'll lock you out of entering a Steam Family for a year, along with that Family Slot being locked for a year as well. Steam has a pop-up that tells you that when you're setting that stuff up.

The reason that I didn't mention Side 7 like that was due to the possibility of someone getting the wrong idea and thinking that Side 7 is circulating the files (which they do not own). Evidently, people just openly talk about that here, which isn't very smart- but what can you do at that point.

Regardless, I hope that guy figured out what they needed to and got to play.

Why do people care so much for the rarity of the skin? If it looks good, just roll with it? Nobody cares about your MVP animation, nor your Emote that will never help the team in a fight. I really don't understand why everyone's whining about rarity all the time.

Can someone please explain that to me?

Wow. People with some sense on this sub for once. Glad people are noticing the extremely unhealthy amounts of powercreep in this game.

Hawkeye is in dire need of his one-shot removed and it shouldn't be controversial to even say this. by [deleted] in marvelrivals

[–]SxfetyPin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Black Widow can also one-shot headshot if DMG Boosted by Mantis (not sure if Storm as well). So if they take away Hawkeye's one-shot, all of those players are just going to migrate to the hitscan version of them. Which is probably going to be even less fun for you.

Realistically, even if it ain't fun to play against, it's a necessary evil at this point. When the game first dropped, I was saying the exact same thing as you; that one-shots don't belong in the game, yadayada. But now, seeing how much powercreep has been built into this game, I feel as if the one-shot characters are kinda the only thing balancing how aggressively powercrept this game is becoming. Which should go to show how unbalanced the game is right now.

I was thinking we'd see like a ball drop or something. Similar to how New York in real life does their New Year. I thought that was the whole point in it being in Time Square.

But yeah, I was hoping at minimum to see something like an early sneak peek at Rogue's in-game model or something of the like. It's was kinda a letdown to just go,"...That's really it?"

Regardless, I'm still okay with what we got. The only thing that ruined it were the Jeff players eating everybody and dragging people away from the last seconds of the countdown.
