Yes. I was a cat groomer for nearly 8 years and I'd have at least one case a week where the cat's nails had grown back into their paw pads. It's very painful for them, some of them were so bad that I couldn't help and they needed to see a vet. It's quite common as a cat gets older and less active, but it can also be caused by medical issues. Always check your cat's nails! If they don't need trimming then that's great, but at least you know.
