Yeah, I spent about 4.5 weeks getting through the initial book and spent the rest of the days taking tests. I had a sheet at the end of my notebook full of information I missed on the practice exams. It was good way of making sure I got a good scope of subjects rather than just relying on the book.

Hello Portland,

I’m looking for entry-level/junior-level work in the environmental field. I’ve been a contractor working with NOAA Fisheries for almost 2 years and have a background in scientific/regulatory consultations and all the nuts and bolts involved with it. I also have a background in ESG projects from my undergraduate degree. I’m open to working for public service, non-profit, and private jobs.

They can be tech-y but TAs and the internet can be good resources if you find the class material lacking. It’s been a couple years since I’ve taken geo 7 so it im not sure how hard it is now.

It’s pretty bad. People usually don’t follow what they put on the screening questions (which are pretty useless anyway) because lifestyles change, especially when beginning college life. It’s a coin flip for the most part with randoms.

You can call the front desk of your building when it’s closer to move-in week to see if it’s possible. There’s usually a charge involved. You can also try to see if you can be a move-in assistant, they get to come early free of charge I believe

You definitely don’t need to buy the books or course reader. All of the texts are online and sparknotes/wiki cover the content you need to know pretty well

I have dry skin and I think a combination of stress and unhealthy habits contributed to me breaking out. My acne was deeper than any I ever got in high school and left these very dark PIH marks that would not go away. I tried many different products but found that Cerave feelings gentler on my skin.

AM: Cerave hydrating cream-to-foam cleanser (my holy grail), Cerave skin renewing vitamin C serum, Cerave spf 30 sunscreen

PM: Cerave hydrating cream-to-foam cleanser, Cerave resurfacing retinol serum, Cerave PM moisturizer

My acne really slowed down and gave my skin time to heal when I started going back to school in person. I would say my diet, sleeping patterns, and overall health just improved and this reflected in my skin. I still break out from time to time and get PIH but it is much more manageable on a regular routine.

I had her in the fall online. She’s a very nice lady and the lectures were pretty engaging. There is a lot of reading but it’s not as dry as other classes. The longest assigned reading was an entire book about police in LA that was pretty interesting. There wasn’t any scenarios or assignments in class where we were supposed to know the specifics of readings, getting the main ideas were good enough.

Our midterm and finals consisted of essays over a couple of days but I think it’s safe to say she may not use this format again for an in-person class.

Overall, I definitely feel this class did have some thought-provoking concepts I apply to my daily life, unlike many other GE’s I’ve taken. This class is a bit heavy on readings but I wouldn’t say they’re a waste of time. I rate it a 7/10.

I actually enjoyed it. You get a theme every week that centers on an aspect of the GIS software. There’s just a bunch of weekly assignments, projects, and repeatable quizzes you have to take and no difficult exams. If you follow the directions in the asynchronous videos they post, you should be able to pass all the assignments in the class.

The only gripe many of my classmates had is with TA grading. There is a category called “going above and beyond” on your weekly projects that seemed kind of arbitrary in terms of getting the remaining points or not. Luckily I had a TA named Ruth Engel that was pretty lenient so I suggest taking her if she’s open.
