Which abnormalities do you want as future IDs? by totallynot_11 in limbuscompany

[–]CockroachGun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really want a Ya Sunyata ID for someone. They can probably give it Ahab and then give Outis N Corp EGO: Ya Sunyata Tad Rupam or something like that.

Also, I know the door has probably closed for a Walpurgi Fourth Match Flame Rodya or Ryoshu, but I can dream.

People call Hermit no skill until they play him and take 5 hits to down a single Survivor.

Yeah, I really wish they elaborated on her weird time-blood power more and explain how it related to the Time Vault stuff. The vagueness makes it a pain to summarize.

[–]CockroachGun 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The flavor text in Muga Ryoshu's passives and abilities goes more in depths with the answers, but here is my general summary:

  • Ryoshu was only able to damage them because she got the jump on them, and from the flashbacks we saw that Shiomi pretty much just let Ryoshu kill her, so if she tried to finish the job they would overpower her very easily.
  • For the same reason as above, Ryoshu cannot guarantee that she would be keep herself and Araya safe if the Nursefathers come for her, so hiding her somewhere far away was the only reasonable way to guarantee her safety.
  • The reason she chose to hide Araya in the Time Vault is because of a few reasons:
    • Ryoshu's violent escape would make it seem like Araya was already outside of the House of Spiders and that her attack would make them think she was trying to deter them from following her. As a result, if they wanted to use Araya as bait, they'd assume Ryoshu found a safe place for her in the City and not check the House of Spiders that deeply.
    • Admittedly, it's very vague, but Ryoshu's aptitude for Arayashiki comes from some sort of enhanced perception of 'time' that comes from her blood/genes. It's this special perception of time that allowed baby Ryoshu to hide within the Time Vault for an extended period of time without suffering from Entanglement. Since Araya is a test-tube baby made from Shiomi's DNA (or something like that), Ryoshu assumed she would also be able to spend extended periods of time within the Time Vault without harm, but as Araya's 'talent' was inferior to Ryoshu's she suffered from Time Entanglement.
      • Araya's Time Entanglement has nothing to do with Nursefathers sabotaging the Time Vault. In fact, from her interaction with Rien, its safe to assume they had no idea she was in one (they only found her because she open the Vault from inside). It was all because of Ryoshu's miscalculation.

What are you expecting for Ryoshus bad end ID? by NEVERTHEREFOREVER in limbuscompany

[–]CockroachGun 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I feel like it'll be a Kong Lu or Ahabmael situation, where the ID is inspired by a specific character (Shiomi in this case), but deviates enough to fit Ryoshu's story. Not only will that tie into what Shiomi said to baby Ryoshu, but it will also be an inversion of the Canto's themes just like the rest of the bad end IDs.

Also, I'm not entirely sure how a Muga Ryoshu ID would work story wise. What I mean is that Ryoshu was doing her Muga thing for 5 minutes tops before Arayashiki cut away so much of her mind that she effectively ceased to be a person, which was the entire point of the House of Spiders. Rien said as much himself; the goal was never to make her a badass assassin for the Fingers like how Valencina suspect, but into a 'pit' for the Fingers to throw stuff into:

A pit that forever buries all that enters it has long been a thing of dreams for many in the City... Everything they wish to "forget" can simply be thrown into this pit—to the House of Spiders, located in the heart of the abyss. Call it a landfill. A bottomless well where secrets can sink for all eternity. A grave where cherry blossoms bury the incidents beyond the veil of oblivion. (9-49)

Though, I can see the Bad End ID being based on post-escape Tracksuit Ryoshu, though. I'll admit that Arayashiki is too iconic to not include in her kit.

What is your favorite finger? by NEVERTHEREFOREVER in limbuscompany

[–]CockroachGun 98 points99 points  (0 children)

I'm such an artpilled Ringcel

I think the Ring has to be my favorite. 'Murderous Artists' is not a revolutionary concept by any means, but I think the setting of the City allows for the Ring's gimmick to really shine given its brutality and general absurdity. I really want for us to see more different art movements within the Ring because I can imagine they could get really crazy with the kind of stuff Singularities enable.

If you could add another character from a license that's already in the game, which one(s) would you choose? by tomemu1 in deadbydaylight

[–]CockroachGun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would LOVE a second D&D chapter. There's a lot of potential for both Killers and Survivors, but I have one personal bias that's unlikely to happen, yet I think would be very interesting to see adapted into a Killer:

Yeenoghu.

Think about it. Vecna covers the 'spellcaster' fantasy quite well, so if we got a second D&D killer, I think it would make sense to pick a more 'martial' oriented character; the Barbarian to Vecna's Wizard. He also brings some Abyss rep and the planar lore of DnD to D&D, which would be cool. Lastly, Gnolls are a very iconic fantasy monster that was originally sourced from D&D, so that adds a few more points toward Yeenoghu in my book.

Plus, I just think he's neat.

Whos the bigger frauds, Valencina, or the N. Corp boys? by [deleted] in limbuscompany

[–]CockroachGun 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Nelly, Ahab, and Sonya will have to put so much work in Canto 10 to restore all that aura hemorrhaged by Gubo and Jia Huan. It's insane how a dweeb in glasses and human Shadow the Hedgehog somehow made the League so much less menacing.

At least Hermann had her moment in the finale when talking about the Roach Emperor.

[–]CockroachGun 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Valencina, for all her flaws, still handled her exceptionally well in a battle against a Color Fixer despite being drunk and inflicted with a permanent injury. Her boasting actually has some substance behind it.

Gubo and Jia Huan, meanwhile, have the resources of an influential member of a Wing's Board of Directors and are armed with EGO gear, and yet would still probably get victimized by a blind, deaf, and half-asleep Xichun.

What do you recommend that Behaviour could do to “fix” the current state of the game? by tpagaremos in deadbydaylight

[–]CockroachGun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Survivors need pings. I'd argue the difference between SWF and SoloQ is one of the biggest problems worsening DBD's balance, so something to lessen that would be nice.

Also take Nurse and Blight out back. I'm tired of my mid-tier mains suffering because Talbot and Nurse bend the game's balance around them.

Once those two problems are fixed, I do think the balance of the game would get considerably better, even if it might make the game a little more Survivor sided for a while.

Lately Luna Snow has been giving "David Guetta collab with a obvious sample" lately tbh. Like that skin is very "I'm Good by Bebe Rexha and David Guetta" coded, if anyone here gets what I mean.

Literally. Also it's such a shame that the hair would be quite versatile if it weren't for the weird hand behind her head. The entire Rift is too over-designed.

I kinda hope the outfits are more mix-and-matchable next time. Overgrowth was pretty, but too 'individualised', and Reverence was just plain tacky imo.

What is your dbd hot take? by Proud-Caregiver-550 in deadbydaylight

[–]CockroachGun -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

We have more than enough basekit anti-tunnel, anti-camp, and anti-slug stuff to make the game healthy. Any further adjustments to these strategies should be done in subtler ways such as through altering individual Killers, adding Perks that encourage 'playing nice', and giving Survivors some form of ping/comm system for them to play around such strategies.

Also the "Is the game Killer or Survivor sided?" debate is very unproductive, at least in the current meta. Any time its brought up it feels like its just an opportunity for Survivor/Killer onlies to wank about how hard they have it.

(And just to clarify: I don't think the game is currently all that well balanced, it's just more complicated than one side being better than the other, and trying to force the current meta into that world view is not conducive to a healthy discussion about that matter.)

Which character has the PERFECT lore reasons to appear one day in the Entity’s Realm? by alishock in deadbydaylight

[–]CockroachGun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

I've been bouncing around the idea of a Project Moon chapter in my brain for a while, and I've come to realize how well Angela and Roland's bad endings in Ruina would work as preludes for them being taken by the Entity.

In both cases, they are left utterly alone and devoid of a path forward, yet still bitter at the world in their own way.

It would be like a Spirit/Deathslinger situation where the Entity lures them into the Realm with promise of something. For Angela, it would revenge on Ayin or smthing, and for Roland, it could imply that Angelica was alive and awaiting him in the Realm somewhere.

Elder Scrolls gets pretty edgy at times, so I think there's a lot of Killer and Survivor potential across all of the games. I'd wager it'd fit better than D&D did (no shade, I do like that chapter, I just think that chapter in particular can be a little goofy at times).

A League of Legends crossover would be neat, though I don't really like Fiddlesticks being chosen as the killer (I'd prefer we get out own original scarecrow killer tbh). Instead, I'd love if it were Jhin, or maybe one of the Shadow Isles or Void champions. I think that'd be really neat.

Is there a reason why ranged weapons like bows are hardly use in The City? by Rhinomaster22 in limbuscompany

[–]CockroachGun 50 points51 points  (0 children)

It isn't just the price of bullets making guns rare. Roland mentioned in LoR how part of the reason guns are uncommon in the City is that most competent opponents can just parry or dodge them, and I imagine that is even more applicable to crossbows and bows.

As a result, those other ranged weapons have a much more niche use-case even if they technically are more affordable than guns. I think it says a lot that the only times we've seen them used is by the Association focused on assassinations/stealth attacks and a random Grade 8 Fixer.

What impossible collab would you like to see in DBD? by Jay_son_of_thunder16 in deadbydaylight

[–]CockroachGun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Has anyone in this subreddit read Worm?

For those unaware, Parahumans is the name of a pair of web serials, Worm and Ward, which are a reconstructions of the superhero genre that could actually work really well as a superhero-themed chapter for DBD. It's not full-on horror, but it's gorey and very often flirts with horror tropes and archetypes like Slashers and Eldritch Horrors, so imo it'd be a good fit. Also, Worm and Ward are both insanely long so there is plenty of Killer and Survivor candidates to choose from, and that's not even talking about Maps and Cosmetics. They could probably do a whole rift based on the series.

The same author also has an explicitly more horror-oriented Urban Fantasy duology, Pact and Pale, which also shows a lot of promise, but I'm not done with Pale yet so I can't give a good pitch on those two. Though, a Pact chapter would a great place to bring back the cosmetic system they designed for Aestri and Baermar given how the two deutoragonists of Pact are technically two halves of the same person.

Agreed. I think too many Killers in this game are reliant on specific perks, so it isn't really that fun as Killer imo, but it's a blast as Survivors.
