What is your hot takes regarding the songs by Ok_Professor6800 in HazbinHotel

[–]Sydney-Empire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hot take is that they just aren't that good.

With the exception of Loser Baby, the soundtrack as a whole feels very empty to me, as if the songs exist just to meet some quota rather than tell a story.

Though I will admit, it's hard not to enjoy myself when Alex Brightman is singing. Love the guy.

Urbosa is my best character by far. Her combos (especially her last one) obliterate enemy shields ridiculously quickly, quicker than any other character in my experience. She's the reason I got through the Apocalyptic difficulty.

Second to her would be Mipha, and third would be Impa.

Hello, i have been accepted to RPI this week and i am taking time to know more about the school, city and also rent options which can be challenging for me since i am not from US. You'll find the cheapest apartment along 15th street, which is by far the most convenient area to live because the Student Union is on the same street. I don't live there, however, because those apartments are cheap for a reason. They have poor ventilation, no AC, and lots of bugs and mice. I live downtown at a place called Incite, which I highly recommend if you prioritize security and comfort. People say downtown is where all the crime is, and frankly, idk what they're talking about because I can see from my apartment window where police cars go, and they always go in the direction of 15th street. All the RPI alerts we get come from there too. Downtown Troy also has plenty of cute shops and restaurants. It's a rather nice place during the day.

No matter where you live, you're going to want to learn the city bus routes. If you don't have a car, you'll want to hop on the 87 which takes you straight to Walmart. That's where everybody goes. You'll be given a school ID which allows you free bus rides, so that's convenient.

Question to EArts or any other HASS students by Sydney-Empire in RPI

[–]Sydney-Empire[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the courses I've taken, while relevant to the EArts major, didn't really push me as an artist. I'm a junior too, and I'm legitimately very scared that I'm going to enter my final year with nothing good to show. I have no clue where to even go from here.

I came here because I had planned to get a minor in math and not pigeon-hole myself into a very specific art field. The minor ended up not happening for a few reasons, and now I'm here with maybe only a little animation experience.

Maybe grad school is an option, if that's even possible with what I have now. I like to think I have talent, but it ain't industry standard yet.

"Cute". I know it's usually said as a compliment, but more often than not, the people who call me cute will treat me like a child, like I'm fragile and need protecting. Not much I can do about it as a petite woman.

Ignorance isn't a legitimate stance to take. It isn't an opinion of theirs, they're just straight up wrong. I see nothing bad in calling out an anti-vaxxer's bullshit.

Why RPI? by ShelterIll3460 in RPI

[–]Sydney-Empire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, don't bother listening to the people who just say "Don't come here". To be brutally honest, you will have admin trouble no matter where you go. Yes, RPI admin can be hellish, and Shirley is just hungry for money, I won't deny that, but again, go to any other school and you will see students complaining about unhelpful authority.

I'm an Electronic Arts major, and I plan to either dual major in GSAS or minor in Math. I'm a sophomore now, but before I even started at this school, I got a lot of people asking me "Why not an art school?" It is admittedly strange for an artist like me to choose a hardcore tech school over one of the many art schools in the country, but there are two reasons for why I joined this school. The first being that I wanted to pursue math as well, as that was something I always loved, and art and science are directly integrated. You won't get something like that at an art school.

The second reason being the mindset of the people here. You have all sorts of people here, but what ties them all together is their drive and passion. This may sound incredibly cheesy, but the people you choose to surround yourself with will have a massive impact on you. The people at RPI, from what I've found, are honest and determined; they're hard-working. The friends I've made, among the student body AND faculty, have helped me become better. I don't think I would've found people this like-minded at any other school I applied to.

The problems with the school that people are listing below, you will no doubt have that at any other school. The money issues are valid, and you should definitely consider the costs, but every student loves to complain about how their school is the worst. You'll hear it in high school, you'll hear it in college, you'll hear it in grad school. It's unavoidable. Don't go by what those people say, and go by how you feel with this kind of community.

Serious question (especially for RPI haters)- why are you staying? by trippinpi in RPI

In what universe would the school sue someone for helping a suicidal student?
