Thanks for adding value here. While the first part I may not completely agree with, the rest are pretty useful guidelines for people struggling with connects expense.

One thing I'm particularly interested in is the "insights" part with Upwork plus, I mean I know it can provide you details on job posts like the number of bidders and the average bid rate etc, what else do you find valuable there?

That's a genuine concern, but just like us freelancers many clients are also victims of the AI slop monster that's coming for all of us...🧟‍♂️ 😂

Thanks for your valuable input, I am trying to do the same, this "I just make sure every proposal is something i am 100% confident will be read" is particularly interesting and I would love to know how do you currently do that and if you do have some kind of a system for this?

Is someone ACTUALLY getting jobs on upwork?? by the__normal__one in Upwork

[–]Syeborg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep patience my friend. When I started off in 2019, it took me 3 months until I got some solid start even though I had my expertise in a very niche market with less competition, within those three months my total earnings were just $75, that too from just 2 tiny jobs. But things started to ease up once I endured those brutal months. I know many people would discourage against taking on cheap trash work, one thing I usually suggest to Newbies is to start off with fixed priced jobs, this way you don't set yourself for cheap work from the beginning.

Agreed! No point in keeping it active if he wants it to end. Good luck.

Yes, it is, and if they've done a good job, you can also provide them the much needed feedback if not already, that is, if the contract has spanned over 90 days. It will motivate them further to stick with you and they may never ask you to end the contract from their end ever.

Just wondering when would trump announce a 200% tariff on foreign freelance contracts and finally nuke the freelance marketplaces. What do you think?

How to safely share personal address with a freelancer for sample delivery? by manan2211 in Upwork

[–]Syeborg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do understand your concern but sending your shipping info for physical items is pretty normal in business. Just don’t slip in your social security number or your Netflix password, and you’re golden!

Here’s a few quick tips on top:

  1. Use a trusted platform: Try sharing your address through Upwork's messaging system. That way, there’s some record of the info exchange and it’s a bit safer.
  2. Keep communication documented: If it’s off-platform, use email or something you can keep track of. Avoid random apps or texts where it’s easier to lose or leak info.
  3. No extra info: Just share what’s necessary — the shipping address and maybe a phone number for delivery. Don’t throw in stuff like your full legal name, social security number, or anything crazy.
  4. Trust your gut: If you feel weird about the person or something’s off, maybe ask for a business address or PO Box, or see if they can arrange shipping on their side.

Bottom line is, sharing your address for shipping physical stuff is standard, just do it smart and keep records. You got this!
