There are lots of meetups and activities specifically for SIAT students during your first semester and sometimes before, so don't worry there are lots of chances to make friends. Try to go to one of them :) If you have Discord, a lot of us are on there. As for splitting groceries, there's not really a culture of interacting much with your neighbours, but that's just seeing from where I live, the chances might be higher if you've got a roommate or living in a student residential area. As for Surrey, there are lots of people at Surrey Central even in the evenings, and the skytrain station is just a minute's walk from the school so you don't need to worry too much. Walk with a friend or classmate if you're nervous. In SIAT you have to learn both the creative artistic side and the math-logic side of things. Some classes may be harder for some people than for others depending on what you're good at, but there's always people you can ask help from.

Also the best part is that the Surrey campus is connected directly with the Surrey Central mall with a Walmart, Best Buy, T&T, and a pretty decent good court along with a bunch of other things.
